Zimmer Grabs Fifth Annual Billy Maynard Memorial at The Hill

MONROETON, Pa. (July 18, 2025) – The third stop on the Close Racing Supply NY/Penn IMCA Modified Series presented by Insinger Performance was also the second and final appearance of the season at The Hill Speedway, featuring the Fifth Annual Billy Maynard Memorial presented by M.R. Dirt and Middendorf Contracting. Fifteen Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds made the trip to the quarter-mile bullring tucked away in the endless mountains of Bradford County to chase a $1,269-to-win purse.

Earl Zimmer and Shawn Bruce, starting on the front row, brought the field to green. Head flagger Brock Matthews quickly threw the first yellow, waving off the initial start he didn’t like.

Take two on the start was to his liking, and Zimmer in the Gary Lamphere provided Alpha Chassis No. 83 jumped out to the lead. Zimmer paced the field for the entire 25 laps, being slowed only three times by cautions. He picked up his second series win, his fourth victory this year in the DeVilbiss Racing Eastern Region, and the biggest payday of his IMCA Modified career. Brad Sites was second followed by Keith Lamphere.

Bowser tops NY-Penn finale, Brad Sites is series king

SUSQUEHANNA, Pa. (Sept. 25) – A visitor from Michigan stole the show and captured the King of the Can title as a cool, fall-like night in Northeastern Pennsylvania set the scene for a fantastic finale in the Close Racing Supply NY-Penn IMCA Modified Series. Brody Bowser led every lap in winning the main event and $1,500 while Brad Sites put the final touches on the inaugural series crown despite late mechanical issues that resulted in a DNF Saturday at Penn Can Speedway. Eddie Sites, Ray McClure, Tyler Stoddard and Bobby Maynard completed the top five. Billy Maynard Memorial win proves third time’s the charm for Brad Sites

By Evan Canfield MONROETON, Pa. (July 9) – Though only two races had been completed in the inaugural NY-Penn IMCA Modified Series season, luck had not been on the side of Brad Sites. Although he entered the Billy Maynard Memorial at The Hill Speedway as the point leader, the previous two races had gone far from smooth. While leading in both races, he found himself backwards, having to climb his way back to top five finishes that helped propel him to the top of the standings. At the end of Friday night’s race, he once again had to overcome adversity to claim his first series checkered flag. Lamphere wins NY-Penn Series thriller at Selinsgrove

(July 7, 2024) – The Close Racing Supply NY-Penn IMCA Modified Series presented by Insinger Performance got its second race scheduled at Selinsgrove Speedway in and the Sunday show did not disappoint. Keith Lamphere pocketed $100 after leading his heat race flag to flag, then followed with the $1,000 Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature win, his first of the season and good for Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying eligibility. Rodney Morgan and Jacob McConnell brought the feature field to green and Morgan took off with the lead on the initial start. Morgan looked to be the dominant car throughout the feature, only being challenged for the lead by fellow Alpha Chassis driver Jared Spalding. With two laps to go, however, Morgan gave up the lead to Lamphere, who pulled away and won ahead of Morgan and Spalding. Inaugural Frank Brewer Memorial G60 Classic Headlines July 26 Program at Cottage Grove

(July 22, 2025) — A special night of racing is in store at Cottage Grove Speedway this Saturday, July 26, as the historic 1/4-mile clay oval hosts the inaugural Frank Brewer Memorial G60 Classic. The event, honoring longtime tire vendor and Cottage Grove fixture Frank Brewer, will feature the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds in a unique and lucrative format — and serve as a qualifier for the Fast Shafts All-Star Modified Invitational, to be held at the Speedway Motors IMCA Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s later this summer. Shrader Doubles Down in SportMod Thriller at Antioch

(July 19, 2025) – Kenny Shrader of Pacheco captured his third Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMod main event win of the season at Antioch Speedway, keeping the points battle tight in the 20-lap contest. The two-time reigning track champion and current point leader fended off consistent pressure from nearest rival Jason Ryan Jr. to take the victory. It was the first race at the Contra Costa County Fairgrounds 3/8-mile oval since June 28th. Joseph Pato paced the early laps after scoring a heat race win. Probst Prevails in Hobby Stock Thriller at Arlington

By Susan Allen ARLINGTON, Minn. (July 19, 2025) — A first lap yellow flag during the Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stock feature didn’t set the pace very well for the night. Dan Scharpe had troubles when his rear end locked up, sending him to the pit area for the night. Taylor Manderfield led the first four laps of the race before another yellow flew after contact between Ben Davis and Chad Volk. Both drivers were able to resume, but Davis restarted at the tail. That gave Cory Probst the opportunity he needed to get around both Manderfield and Blake Luinenburg to take the lead. Yet another yellow came out when R.J. Esquada’s hood blew off while running second, forcing him to retire. The restart opened the door for Luinenburg to challenge for the lead, but he and Probst battled to the finish with Probst coming out on top.
