DICKINSON, N.D. (Jul. 9, 2025) — Ethan Braaksma emerged victorious from an epic 30-lap Friesen Performance IMCA Modified main event during night five of the Wolla Trucking Dakota Classic Modified Tour powered by Industrial Electric at Southwest Speedway. Braaksma became the first repeat winner of the 2025 tour and collected his seventh win of the season, including six in the Razor Chassis North Central Region.
A sensational back-and-forth duel unfolded in the early going between Braaksma and Tom Berry Jr., two heavyweight drivers in the Speedway Motors IMCA Weekly Racing scene. Berry, a two-time Dakota Tour champion, 2020 National Modified champion, and 2022 Speedway Motors IMCA Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s winner, set a strong early tone. But Braaksma, the 2025 IMCA.TV Winter Nationals champion, kept pace in the Danny Meier and Trent Guest-owned no. 111 entry.
The two pilots traded the lead more than a dozen times, with seven official lead changes scored at the stripe before Braaksma took control for good on lap 13. He held steady through two restarts and drove to his second straight tour win and third career Dakota Classic Tour victory.
Kyle Strickler and Tanner Black waged a fierce contest behind the leaders during the second half. Strickler brought the Cade Dillard-owned no. 8 machine home in second, while Black thrilled the crowd with a charge from 17th to finish third.
Munoz Repeats in Stock Cars After Late Restart
Angel Munoz made it two in a row on the Dakota Classic Tour with a gritty performance in the 25-lap Sunoco IMCA Stock Car main event at Dickinson. The Lamar, Colorado driver capitalized on a key lane change after a lap 15 restart and held on for his second win in as many nights.
Ten-time Minnesota State champion and 13-time Arlington Raceway titlist Dan Mackenthun led the first lap before Braden Richards surged to the front on lap three. A lap 10 caution bunched the field, setting the stage for Munoz’s methodical climb from mid-pack as he worked the low side of the track.
Munoz briefly took command on lap 13, only for Richards to rally back a lap later using the high groove. The final caution on lap 15 set up a 10-lap dash, and Richards went low line on the restart. Munoz reacted quickly, switching lanes to the outside and powering ahead for good.
Richards finished second while reigning Estevan Motor Speedway track champion Austin Daae secured third.
