MAQUOKETA, Iowa (June 28, 2025) — Andrew Chelf of nearby Lost Nation has won plenty of Hobby Stock races at his home track, but Saturday night marked his first-ever triumph in the ultra-competitive Sunoco IMCA Stock Cars at Maquoketa Speedway. Chelf ran the bottom side to perfection, holding off a host of challengers for the EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region victory. Veteran Jerry Miles worked the top groove and stayed in contention late but ultimately finished second behind the smooth-running Chelf. Gage Neal, back in his familiar no. 12N, closed the gap in the final laps and crossed the stripe in third.

Morris Nabs Narrow Late Model Win

The Sunoco IMCA Late Models capped the night with a thrilling 25-lap main event. Jake Morris guided his no. 86 to a hard-fought win, fending off numerous challenges from Bryce Garnhart. Morris clung to the low line while Garnhart powered around the top in a dramatic side-by-side battle for the win—Morris’ second of the season and first at the Jackson County Fairgrounds oval. The finish was separated by less than a car length. Dave Hammond completed a solid run in third.

Fryer Flies to Caution-Free Modified Win

The Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds opened feature action with a clean, green, caution-free 20-lap affair. Jaden Fryer, who started ninth, worked his way through the field and made a late pass on race-long leader Austin Stamm with less than five laps remaining. Fryer went on to score his third Razor Chassis North Central Region win of the season—two of which have come at Maquoketa. Stamm, impressive in his rookie Modified campaign, finished second ahead of Mitch Way.

Franzen Outlasts Field in SportMod Showdown

Home driver Jarett Franzen used a late-race restart to get around race leader Nathan Silaggi in the Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMod feature and never looked back. The win marked Franzen’s seventh of the year and third at Maquoketa. Fortune was on his side as his car suffered suspension damage just after taking the checkers and had to be towed to the pits. Josh Starr made a late push and narrowly beat Silaggi for the runner-up position.

Miles Claims Sixth Hobby Stock Victory

Fans were treated to a wild Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stock feature filled with lead changes and tight pack racing that often went three and four wide. When the dust settled, it was 19-year-old Jordan Miles emerging victorious, fending off Carson Butt for the win. Miles now has six B&B Racing Chassis Northern Region victories this season, including two at Maquoketa. Lane Vohringer drove his Mopar-powered machine to a third-place finish.

The event was broadcast live on IMCA TV affiliate Done Right TV. Catch every lap again with the IMCA TV Replay Subscription, available for just $24.99/month. And don’t miss Season 2 of the Boone Docuseries, now streaming exclusively on IMCA TV.
