SHAWANO, Wisc. (May 10, 2025) — After much anticipation, Mother Nature finally cooperated to allow 200 truckloads of new clay to be laid on Shawano Speedway. The new surface produced multi-groove racing, little dust, and plenty of speed as the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds headlined the action-packed night. Tanner Janke made the most of the fresh track, taking control early and holding off a strong charge from Lucas Lamberies to secure his first Razor Chassis North Central Region win of 2025.

Janke, who started on the front row alongside his father Gary Janke, jumped to the lead and built a sizable advantage before the first of two cautions flew for a spin by Jason Yeager in turn four. On both restarts, Janke maintained his composure and pulled away, despite pressure from Lamberies, who had charged from eighth.

A final caution for Jerry Muenster set up one last restart, but Janke proved untouchable, pulling away to take the checkers. Lamberies settled for second, while Gary Janke completed the family’s strong showing in third.

Springborn Sweeps Shawano SportMod Action

A.J. Springborn brought the broom to Shawano Speedway, winning both his heat race and the Karl Chevrolet IMCA SportMod feature in commanding fashion. Starting from the pole alongside Bryce Clements, Springborn grabbed the lead off turn two and never looked back, distancing himself from the pack early.

A caution for Bernie Miller’s hard contact with the turn two wall bunched the field, but Springborn remained flawless on the restart, cruising to his second win of the night. J.J. Vanderloop surged into second with a strong run, while Tommy Rindt was third.

Christians Fends Off Michonski for Stock Car Win

The Sunoco IMCA Stock Cars endured a caution-filled feature at Shawano Speedway that included a pair of wild wrecks and numerous position changes. Early on, Brett Wenzel paced the field, but after multiple cautions, Jeremy Christians found his way to the front and held off a charging Dan Michonski over the final circuits.

Michonski made a last-ditch effort off turn four on the final lap but came up short as Christians captured his second EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region win of the season and first at Shawano. Michonski settled for second, while Wenzel was third.
