COLBY, Kan. (May 2, 2025) — The Sunoco IMCA Stock Cars produced the night’s most dramatic moments in the first night of action in 2025 at Thomas County Speedway. After winning his heat, Doug Holzmeister started on the pole and jumped out to an early lead in the 20-lap feature. The veteran from Colby built a solid margin early, but heavy pressure loomed behind as Quinton Yutterman, Kyle Pfeifer, and the Burkhart duo charged forward.

Holzmeister held off Yutterman’s advances using every inch of the racetrack, picking up his third win of the season after sweeping the Abilene Speedway’s Ice Breaker but his first win in the EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region this year.

Yutterman was a strong second, followed by new dad Tathan Burkhart.

Barnhart Slides to Sport Mod Victory Lane

The Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMods delivered a race of intense battles and perfectly timed passes. Heat race winners Josh Barnhart and Brianna Maughlin led a packed field into their 20-lap finale. Blaine Walt led the opening six laps before a caution regrouped the field. Walt built another gap on the restart, but Barnhart stayed close and delivered a picture-perfect slide job in turns three and four on lap 13.

Walt’s attempted crossover came up short, and Barnhart pulled away to secure his first win of the year. Walt settled for second, followed by Adam Weber.

Josh Barnhart executed a textbook slide job on lap 13 to take the lead and claim the Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMod win at Thomas County Speedway — his first victory of the 2025 campaign.

The Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts kicked off the night with an absolute barnburner. After winning the heat, Brock Leibhart led most of the feature from the pole. However, Gage Porter closed the gap in the final circuits, and the pair battled side-by-side in the final lap.

Porter edged Leibhart at the line for his first win of the season. Kaishen Brack placed third.

Bell Untouchable in Hobby Stock Win

Dylan Bell left no doubt in the Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stocks. After starting fourth, he rocketed to the lead and never looked back—even a late caution couldn’t derail his charge. Bell, already on a hot streak of four straight podiums, secured his first win of 2025 in the B&B Racing Chassis Northern Region.

Brady Bencken started third and finished second, followed by Morgan Olmstead.

Dylan Bell dominated the Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stock main event at Thomas County Speedway, leading the final laps uncontested for his first victory of the season in the B&B Racing Chassis Northern Region.

Money Dominant in Modified Action

Clay Money capped off the night in dominant fashion in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds. Starting on the pole, the “Moneyman” set the pace early while fending off Greg Gustus. A spinning John Fabrizius caused an early caution, but it didn’t faze Money, who launched away on every restart to victory lane.

Kyle Rohleder and Brett Berry made a late charge through lapped traffic but ran out of time to catch the leader. Money collected his second win of the season in the Jet Racing Central Region, adding to a previous triumph at RPM Speedway. Rohleder finished second with Berry in third.

Clay Money was untouchable in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature at Thomas County Speedway, leading every circuit from the pole to secure his second win of 2025.
