Pfeifer prevails at Dodge City Stock Car Shootout

DODGE CITY, Kan. (May 4) – Saturday night’s Stock Car Shootout presented by Winner’s Circle Feedyards and Factory Direct Fireworks atop the 3/8-mile Dodge City Raceway Park clay oval lived up to its moniker with Kyle Pfeifer battling past Jason Rogers in the closing rounds of the 25-lapper to pocket the $1,000 winner’s share for IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars.

Pfeifer had his work cut out for him the in the 25-lap Shootout, gridding the feature field 12th as Tyler Walker and Mark Zorn led the way to the green flag.

Walker gunned into the early lead and paced the initial eight circuits before surrendering the point to eighth-starter Rogers.

Rogers was busy fending off Angel Munoz over the ensuing circuits while Pfeifer made his into the top five by the midway point.

Working the top side of the track, Pfeifer made his way to second by the 17th round and then began pressuring Rogers for the lead.  After battling side-by-side for several circuits, Pfeifer surged ahead on the 23rd lap and paced the final three circuits to secure the win. 

After leading more than half the race, Rogers settled for second with Munoz filling out the podium in third.  Mike Petersilie crossed the stripe fourth after starting 10th with Will Bauer rounding out the top five. 

Other Saturday night winners included Clay Money in the IMCA Modifieds, Travis Burger in the IMCA SportMods and Tathan Burkhart in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks.

Driver Appreciation Night is Friday at Dodge City Raceway Park

(July 23) – Among the most anticipated racing nights of the year at Dodge City Raceway Park is in store with a special Friday night card this week featuring the annual Lewis Automotive Drivers’ Appreciation Night. Bubak back in Dodge City form in DCRP Sprint Car Nationals opener

(Aug. 20) – Colorado’s Jake Bubak picked up right where he left off last year by wiring the field in Thursday night’s 25-lap feature to get the fourth annual Lubbock Wrecker Service DCRP Sprint Car Nationals under way atop the 3/8-mile Dodge City Raceway Park clay oval. Last year, Bubak swept through all three nights to collect more than $6,000 as he became the third different event winner in as many years. And he may have led all 25 laps on Thursday night, but he certainly had to earn it as John Carney II pressured throughout and even slid into the lead briefly on a couple of occasions along the way only to have Bubak successfully counter.  After drawing the second row inside for the feature event after a heat race win, fortune was on Bubak’s side from the outset with scheduled pole starter Koby Walters scratching from the main event. Sprint checkers fly for Cranston at Dodge City

By Lonnie Wheatley  DODGE CITY, Kan.  (June 1) – Luke Cranston is finding the showdowns pitting the Precise Rac­ing Products DCRP Sprint Cars versus the POWRi United Rebel Sprint Series to his liking.  For the second time this year, Cranston raced to victory lane in Saturday’s IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car feature atop the 3/8-mile Dodge City Raceway Park in southwest Kansas. In the 25-lap DCRP vs. URSS Sprint Car Clash, Cranston chased down early leader Ty Williams in traffic on the 16th round and went on take the checkered flag by nearly a half straightaway.  After a pair of aborted starts, Williams and Cranston led the 24-car feature field to the green flag with the ensuing 25 laps run off in non-stop fashion.  Williams gunned into the early lead and paced the field for the initial 15 circuits. Cranston closed in to challenge for the point as traffic came into play after a dozen circuits and pounced on opportunity in traffic to take command on the 16th round.
