Season championships Sunday at Dubuque

DUBUQUE, Iowa – This Sunday, Aug. 26, Dubuque Hose & Hydraulics will present the 2018 season championship races at Dubuque Speedway.

Track championships will be decided in both the Merfeld Brothers Auto IMCA Modified and GSI Collision Specialists IMCA Northern SportMod divisions.

Fans in attendance on Sunday night will have an opportunity to win tickets to the 41^st annual Yankee Dirt Track Classic. A drawing from the ticket stubs will be held prior to the features on and three lucky fans will win three-day Yankee tickets.

Farley Speedway will host the Yankee Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Aug. 30-Sept. 1.

$250 Sunoco bonus highlights races in Dubuque this Sunday night

DUBUQUE, Iowa – Extra money is on the line for the winner of Sunday’s main event for IMCA Sunoco Late Models at Dubuque Speedway. The fourth $250 Sunoco Race Fuels bonus of the season will be paid to the June 6 Late Model winner in Dubuque. Sunoco bonuses will be presented at Late Model sanctioned tracks again this year. Drivers are eligible for one bonus during the 2021 racing season. Winners so far this year are Matt Ryan at 300 Raceway in Farley, followed by Sean Johnson at Independence Motor Speedway and Andy Eckrich last Saturday night at 34 Raceway in West Burlington. IMCA will announce mid-week before the dates bonuses are to be awarded at each track. The grandstand opens at 4 p.m. and general admission is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors 65 and over, $6 for students 13-17, and 12 and under get in free with a paid adult. Racing is set to get underway following 6 p.m. hot laps.

Farley, Dubuque set to go green this weekend

By Jerry Mackey FARLEY, Iowa – The racing season is set to see the first green flags of 2018 at the popular Northeast Iowa tracks under the direction of Farley Speedway Promotions. Farley Speedway, located on the southwest corner of Farley, Iowa, is set to entertain a full program of weekly racing that includes IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods on Friday, April 27 with hot laps taking to the 3/8 mile dirt track at 7 p.m. On Sunday, April 29, the Dubuque County Fairgrounds Speedway will open the 2018 campaign with sanctioned Modifieds and Northern SportMods on the card. Sunday’s start time has been moved up to 5 p.m. for the upcoming season. The earlier start time will allow fans and competitors alike an opportunity to get home much earlier and get a good night’s rest to prepare for the week ahead. Garnhart, Soppe score at Dubuque

By Jerry Mackey DUBUQUE, Iowa (May 6) – Sunday’s Merfeld Brothers Auto IMCA Modifieds feature at Dubuque Speedway was another nail biter as several drivers took their turns at the front. Bryce Garnhart battled with Austin Moyer for much of the 20-lap main event before crossing under the checkers ahead of Moyer. Last week’s winner Jason Schueller turned in another fine run in taking third. Defending IMCA national champion Tyler Soppe scored the feature win in the 18-lap GSI Collision Specialists Northern Sportmod main event. Soppe fought to the front from a fourth row start to score the win ahead of early leader Justin Becker. Scott Busch followed up last week’s win with a third place finish.

Pettit Holds Off Late Charge for Watsonville Victory

(June 26, 2026) — West Coast Stock Car Hall of Famer Jim Pettit II continued his mastery of Watsonville Speedway Friday night, wasting little time taking command of the Karl Kustoms IMCA Modified feature. The Prunedale driver raced into the lead at the drop of the green before surviving numerous restarts and relentless late pressure to secure the $1,000 victory. The five-time Watsonville Speedway Modified champion consistently nailed his restarts while Andrew Peckham, Gavyn Manning, and Andrew Pearce battled fiercely behind him throughout the 25-lap feature. As the laps wound down, Pettit had to withstand determined challenges from Peckham and Manning but never surrendered the point, crossing the stripe first to earn his third DeVilbiss Racing Chassis Western Region victory of the season and first at Watsonville in 2026. Shryock Nips Fett at the Line in Hancock County Stock Car Thriller

By Chad Meyer BRITT, Iowa (June 26, 2026) — A last-corner pass and a drag race to the checkered flag highlighted Friday night’s IMCA action at Hancock County Speedway as defending national champion Kelly Shryock stole the Sunoco IMCA Stock Car feature in dramatic fashion. Colby Fett appeared headed for victory after racing into the lead and controlling much of the 20-lap feature. But Shryock steadily reeled him in during the closing laps before making a bold move entering the final corner. The Fertile driver completed the pass exiting turn four, edging Fett to the finish line by just 0.012 seconds. Starting eighth, Shryock earned his third EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region victory of the season, with two of those wins coming at Hancock County Speedway. Goos Charges From 12th to Thursday Night Sprint Victory at Jackson

(June 25, 2026) — Defending IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car national champion Lee Goos Jr. charged from 12th starting position to capture a thrilling victory Thursday night at Jackson Motorplex during the second round of the Heiman Fire Equipment Mayhem Summer Series. The Hartford, South Dakota, driver methodically carved through the field before making the winning pass with four laps remaining. Goos then held off the competition over the closing circuits to earn his fourth career Jackson Motorplex victory. The triumph was Goos’ fourth overall victory of the 2026 season and his first at Jackson. Dylan Waxdahl was credited with second, followed by Jake Greenwood and Aydin Lloyd. Trevor Serbus completed the top five after advancing from 11th on the starting grid. Braden Ockenga, Lloyd, Greenwood and Waxdahl won the evening’s heat races, while Jeremy Schultz claimed the B Main.
