SEYMOUR, Wis. (Aug. 19) – J.J. Andersen went into the Sunday night IMCA Modified event at Outagamie Speedway seeking a weekend sweep but Brian Mullen had other ideas.
The winner Friday at Luxemburg Speedway and Saturday at 141 Speedway, Anderson jumped to the early lead and appeared to be well on his way to completing the 3-for-3 weekend. Mullen raced from row four into the runner-up spot on lap five.
With Andersen and Mullen both running the top groove, it looked as if that’s how they would finish but a caution on lap eight changed everything. With Mullen restarting down low, Andersen switched to the bottom of the track and allowed Mullen the preferred line up top.
Mullen took the lead, going unchallenged the remainder of the event for the win. Andersen ended in second. Tyler Wilson, Johnny Whitman and Benji LaCrosse completed the top five.
Brandon Czarapata checked out in winning the caution-free IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature while Jason Ebert was never challenged in racing to his second straight Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod victory.
Cody Booth scored his first Mach-1 Sport Compact win of the season.
By Scott Owen SEYMOUR, Wis. (July 22) – Lance Arneson aced the Sunday feature for IMCA Modifieds at Outagamie Speedway. Trevor Spaulding vaulted to the early lead before Kyle Kudick and Jamie Schmidt made it a three-wide battle for the lead. Brekken Kleinschmidt passed Schmidt to move to third while Arneson advanced to fourth on the sixth circuit. Kudick, Kleinschmidt, and Arneson fought for second as Spaulding held the point position. Arneson had his car pinned to the inside line and pulled even with Spaulding on lap 12, then took the lead the next time around. Arneson never looked back en route to victory. Kudick finished a strong second, with Johnny Whitman making a late-race charge to third. Jason Czarapata and Wyatt Block completed the top five. Brandon Czarapata led from lap three to the checkers in winning the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car main while Kyle Raddant ran in front from just the 18th circuit on in topping the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods. (May 7) – One hundred and seventy-eight racers checked in to do battle at Outagamie Speedway Friday night, among them 38 IMCA Modifieds, 39 IMCA Stock Cars, 39 IMCA Sport Mods, 33 IMCA Sport Compacts and 29 Unified Street Stocks. Defending IMCA Sunoco Stock Car champion Eric Arneson paced the opening lap until former national champion Travis Van Straten took the top spot. Tim Warner cleared the Arneson machine for the runner-up position and set his sights on Van Straten. Warner went to work on the outside groove, pulling past Van Straten and to the lead. Van Straten came roaring back as the duo traded the lead over the next several laps. With two laps remaining, Warner gained the edge he needed to score his first-ever IMCA Stock Car feature win. Cody Schroeder raced to the lead early during the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature. Schroeder looked poised to earn a Kim Parsons Memorial Trophy as he sped away from his competitors. Several cautions kept the field bunched but at every turn Schroeder was in command until the caution flew with five laps remaining. Rookie Jayden Schmidt was able to slip under Schroeder on the restart to take the lead. Schmidt never looked back to score his first Modified win at the speedway, to the delight of the hometown crowd. Johnny Whitman made a late-race charge to place second, Marcus Yarie battled all race long to take third, Brian Mullen was fourth and Schroeder completed the top five.
