Green takes I-37 Modified checkers

PLEASANTON, Texas (July 28) – Rick Green took home the top money in Saturday’s IMCA Modified feature at I-37 Speedway, but it wasn’t easy after midway.

Green had jumped out to an early lead from the eighth starting spot and put some distance on Jeremy Davenport, Cody Tidwell, Jake Rollins and Greg Dinsmore.

Dinsmore advanced to second but was half a straightaway back until caution flew on lap 13. The restart saw Dinsmore and Tidwell on Green’s bumper, but as the two fought for second Green inched ahead.

Dinsmore’s run to the front ended with brake problems, leaving Tidwell to take up the charge on a restart. Green got a couple car lengths on Tidwell and Carroll with Flanagan and Cody Leonard side-by-side for fourth.

Tidwell gave Green a look on the final lap, but Green held him off for his first I-37 victory in several years.

Whiteaker Wins One for Home Team at I-37’s Texas Showdown

By J.M. Hallas PLEASANTON, Texas (Jan. 10, 2026) — The $2,000-to-win, 30-lap Texas Showdown IMCA Modified finale at I-37 Speedway started with Steven Whiteaker Jr. and Cody Laney on the front row. With the track sweep bonus already busted, the only remaining bonus was for the best combined finish by the ODS/Southern Touring IMCA Modified Series, setting up a winner-take-all showdown between the two front starters. When the green waved, Laney shot to the bottom first into turn one, but Whiteaker powered off the top to lead lap one ahead of Laney, Brenda Kirby-Morris, Jordan Grabouski in the Johnny Torres-owned no. 66, and Dean Abbey. Grabouski worked past Kirby-Morris for third and then battled Laney in a classic high-low duel before a lap-seven caution slowed the field. By J.M. Hallas PLEASANTON, Texas (May 19) – After some early season bad luck, Chris Carroll parked his IMCA Modified in the winner’s circle Saturday at I-37 Speedway. Thanks to his wife, son and a couple grand in repairs, Carroll got by point leader Rick Green for the lead. Talon Minten was able to show him the nose after a late restart but Carroll was able to hold him off. “It’s my wife and son supporting me, first off,” commented Carroll. “Colin put the car together and he made it come off the turns. It rotated through the middle real good. Rick (Green) slipped up a little bit and let me go.” “My son put the car back together after the crash earlier this year. There was about $2,000 in damage,” he continued. “We basically torn the right front off and bent the bird cages, tires and wheels. Hallas PLEASANTON, Texas (April 9, 2022) – After a scheduled week off, it was time for round two of the I-37 Speedway point season and Rick Green raced to his first IMCA Modified feature win of the season in flag-to-flag fashion. As green waved on the 20-lap main it was Green with a big run into turn one. Four cautions slowed the first half of the contest but the last half was run under green with Jared Maupin looking middle-up on Green in turns one and two and then the bottom in turns three and four. Greg Dinsmore closed in on Maupin looking low as Maupin tried high. This gave Doyon the chance to reel Dinsmore in for the closing laps. (Oct. 23, 2026) — When Caleb Gardner climbed out of his No. 39 Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stock at Dacotah Speedway on Saturday, Oct. 3, another night of racing had come to an end. But this particular evening carried a little more significance for the Glyndon, Minn., driver, who was preparing to trade the familiar surroundings of dirt tracks and race shops for an overseas deployment with the Minnesota National Guard. The Oktoberfest program in Mandan, N.D., marked Gardner’s final race before departing overseas, where he will serve as a tracked-vehicle recovery operator. For Gardner, racing has always been more than a weekend pastime. His grandfather, Al, raced before his father, Randy, and brother, Doug, followed into the sport. Whiteaker Wins Three-Wide Showdown while Torres Breaks Through in STIMS Texana Clash

By Nick Robbins EDNA, Texas (Oct. 17, 2026) — The Southern Touring IMCA Modified Series presented by On Demand Shirts took the green flag for its 2026 season finale at Texana Raceway Park during the Lance and Martha Toler Last Call Racing Texana Clash. Two separate $1,500-to-win shows produced two different winners, with one grabbing his first victory of the season. The first heat race went three-wide at the green flag, with Steven Whiteaker Jr. storming through the middle of the track to take the lead from fourth off turn two. Reigning series champion Jared Maupin got loose entering turn three, leaving Shawn Sandegren with nowhere to go as contact brought out the caution. The second attempt saw polesitter Brian Machicek hold off a charge from Logan Dinsmore to lead the opening lap. Inaugural Wild River Diamond in the Desert Set for Cocopah Speedway Nov. 4-7

(Oct. 21, 2026) — Some of the biggest names in Speedway Motors IMCA racing will converge on Cocopah Speedway Nov. 4-7 for the inaugural Wild River Diamond in the Desert, featuring three nights of competition and an $8,000 payday awaiting the Karl Kustoms IMCA Modified winner. Presented by Wild River Family Entertainment Center, the first-year event will bring five IMCA divisions to the Diamond in the Desert for a weekend of racing in southwestern Arizona. The four-day gathering begins Wednesday, Nov. 4, with an open practice session before racing gets underway Thursday, Nov. 5, and continues through Saturday, Nov. 7.
