Green takes I-37 Modified checkers

Rick Green was challenged but never caught Before taking Saturday’s IMCA Modified checkers at I-37 Speedway.

PLEASANTON, Texas (July 28) – Rick Green took home the top money in Saturday’s IMCA Modi­fied feature at I-37 Speedway, but it wasn’t easy after midway.
 
Green had jumped out to an early lead from the eighth starting spot and put some distance on Jeremy Davenport, Cody Tidwell, Jake Rollins and Greg Dinsmore.
Dinsmore advanced to second but was half a straightaway back until caution flew on lap 13. The restart saw Dinsmore and Tidwell on Green’s bumper, but as the two fought for second Green inched ahead.
Dinsmore’s run to the front ended with brake problems, leaving Tidwell to take up the charge on a re­start. Green got a couple car lengths on Tidwell and Carroll with Flanagan and Cody Leonard side-by-side for fourth.
 
Tidwell gave Green a look on the final lap, but Green held him off for his first I-37 victory in sev­eral years.

After suffering through a week of weather better suited for the Arctic, it was time for the roar of race engines as I-37 Speedway kicked off the 2021 season with its Frostbuster Saturday night after an open practice on Friday. With north Texas tracks suffering rain outs to their opening weekend shows, some drivers took the opportunity to travel south, or further south as was the case for several out of state teams. The track was also able to add the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars to the night’s slate running for IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing national, EQ Cylinder Heads Southern Region and KMJ Performance State points. Long tow to I-37 pays off for Andersen

Hallas PLEASANTON, Texas (April 7) – It wasn’t the trip he had planned, but Chad Andersen of Fort Calhoun, Neb., made the 13-hour drive pay off with a win in the IMCA Modified feature Saturday at I-37 Speedway. Starting toward the back with no point average, Andersen hung out letting the field sort itself, then began his march to the front. Andersen caught Rick Green, Jamie Campbell and Dillon Tindall near halfway making a four-car fight for the lead. Andersen grabbed the point on lap 13, then survived a couple late restarts to pick up the victory. “The win made the long trip worth it. We had intended to go to a two-day show in Iowa and took vacation time. Carroll uses traffic in I-37 win

Hallas PLEASANTON, Texas (June 6) – The two-week break in racing at I-37 Speedway proved a blessing Saturday night for Chris Carroll, whose IMCA Modified had sustained significant damage in the last outing.  Carroll started in row four and caught leader Rick Green in traffic to get by. In the latter stages, Carroll had to fend off rookie Logan Dinsmore, fresh off his high school graduation.   “This was Rick’s race. He clearly had the better car tonight. Everything just fell my way,” Carroll said. “I was watching Rick, he was gone. It’s easier being in second place sometimes when you get to traffic.” Jamie Campbell ended in second and Ryan Doyon was third.
