Shipley scores in photo finish at Sheyenne

IMCA.com-#72-Shipley-Celebration---Sheyenne-Speedway-Lisbon-ND — Dave Shipley was the IMCA Modified winner during the 45th anniversary race program at Sheyenne Speedway.

LISBON, N.D. (July 1) – Dave Shipley was the photo finish winner when IMCA Modifieds returned to Sheyenne Speedway as part of the track’s 45^th anniversary night.

John Nord led early but was soon overtaken by rookie Jesse Skalicky.

Skalicky was fast on the high side and built a nice lead, but the car on the move was the ninth starting Shipley’s.

He used an effective low line, steadily moved through the field and took over second, then started closing the gap on Skalicky.

As the laps wound down, Shipley got closer and closer and eventually got beside Skalicky as the two ran side-by-side the final few laps. The two raced to the line, where Shipley won a thriller by just .049 of a second in a true photo finish.

Nord had a nice run to finish third, followed by Randy Klein and Tyler Peterson.

Sheyenne celebrates its 45th this Sunday

By Tom Berg LISBON, N.D. – Sunday is a night of celebration at Sheyenne Speedway! The 1/4-mile dirt track in Lisbon, N.D., will celebrate its 45th anniversary this Sunday night, July 1. Racing begins at 6 p.m. and will be the biggest show of the year with six classes running. The Powdercoat Specialists IMCA Modifieds are back for a second time this season. The night also includes a fireworks show after the racing for fans to enjoy in addition to the action on the track. Special, custom 45th anniversary trophies will be presented to all six feature winners. Arneson scores Sheyenne Speedway IMCA Modified win

By Tom Berg LISBON, N.D. (May 27) – Austin Arneson took the lead early and never gave it up in picking up the Memorial Day IMCA Modified win at Sheyenne Speedway. John Nord was second, Greg Friestad third, Dylan Goplen fourth after starting last in the field and Dave Shipley fifth. The 1/4-mile oval at Lisbon hosted a track-record 118 cars for the holiday event.

Four Sunday dates for IMCA Modifieds at Sheyenne

LISBON, N.D. – Four Sunday dates for IMCA Modifieds are on the schedule for Sheyenne Speedway’s 45th anniversary season. The sanctioned division is on the opening night program June 10, as well as July 1, Aug. 12 and Sept. 30 cards. “We’re excited about this. We’ve got a lot of good drivers in the area who have been going to the IMCA Modified,” said promoter Benjie Froemke. “We’ve gotten a lot of good feedback from drivers and other tracks.” The quarter-mile dirt oval at Lisbon, located in the southeast corner of North Dakota, will share drivers with the Friday-Saturday tandem of Red River Valley Speedway at West Fargo and Jamestown Speedway, and worked with Buffalo River Race Park in Glyndon, Minn., for these four dates. Bolac Blasts Off at the Bridge for First Win of 2026

(Aug. 15, 2026) — Daren Bolac, the “Moyock Missile,” blasted off from the front row and never looked back Saturday night, capturing his first RaceSaver IMCA Sprint Car victory of the season with the Virginia Sprint Series at Natural Bridge Speedway. Rain delayed the program and, with a curfew looming, the evening was turned into a feature-only event. Caleb Harris and Bolac paced the field to green for the 20-lap main event, with Bolac immediately jumping out front on the sticky, fast racing surface. Harris settled into second while Cole Dewease quickly began applying pressure for the position. Matthew Leach and Jerald Harris followed closely as the field clicked off laps at a rapid pace. Addison Charges From Seventh for SportMod Victory at Rooks County

(Aug. 15, 2026) — Justin Addison charged from seventh starting to capture the Karl Kustoms IMCA Northern SportMod feature Saturday night at Rooks County Speedway, working his way through a competitive battle at the front before taking command on the Stockton third-mile. Blaine Walt and Tracy Holloway battled for the early lead, and their fight at the front allowed Addison and Tyler Watts to close the gap. Addison continued his march forward from the seventh starting position and eventually worked his way into the lead. Once there, he began to distance himself from the competition and drove away with his fourth feature victory of the season. Harker Charges From 12th for Fifth Eagle Victory

By Greg Soukup EAGLE, Neb. (Aug. 15, 2026) — Shawn Harker came from the sixth row to score his fifth Jet Racing Central Region victory of the season during Junior Fan Club Night at Eagle Raceway. Harker started 12th in the 22-car Karl Kustoms IMCA Modified feature and steadily worked his way forward during an event that saw the lead change hands several times. Clint Homan paced the opening circuits before Dustin Andersen moved past Adam Vrbka following a lap five restart and then took the lead one lap later. Homan regained command on lap 10 before Andersen spun on the backstretch the following circuit, bringing out another caution. Harker had worked his way into contention by then and drove underneath Homan with eight laps remaining to take the lead. Bob Zoubek followed Harker into second two laps later. Another caution gave Zoubek a final opportunity, but Harker controlled the restart and pulled away to win by just over three seconds.
