Shipley scores in photo finish at Sheyenne

LISBON, N.D. (July 1) – Dave Shipley was the photo finish winner when IMCA Modifieds returned to Sheyenne Speedway as part of the track’s 45^th anniversary night.

John Nord led early but was soon overtaken by rookie Jesse Skalicky.

Skalicky was fast on the high side and built a nice lead, but the car on the move was the ninth starting Shipley’s.

He used an effective low line, steadily moved through the field and took over second, then started closing the gap on Skalicky.

As the laps wound down, Shipley got closer and closer and eventually got beside Skalicky as the two ran side-by-side the final few laps. The two raced to the line, where Shipley won a thriller by just .049 of a second in a true photo finish.

Nord had a nice run to finish third, followed by Randy Klein and Tyler Peterson.

Four Sunday dates for IMCA Modifieds at Sheyenne

LISBON, N.D. – Four Sunday dates for IMCA Modifieds are on the schedule for Sheyenne Speedway’s 45th anniversary season. The sanctioned division is on the opening night program June 10, as well as July 1, Aug. 12 and Sept. 30 cards. “We’re excited about this. We’ve got a lot of good drivers in the area who have been going to the IMCA Modified,” said promoter Benjie Froemke. “We’ve gotten a lot of good feedback from drivers and other tracks.” The quarter-mile dirt oval at Lisbon, located in the southeast corner of North Dakota, will share drivers with the Friday-Saturday tandem of Red River Valley Speedway at West Fargo and Jamestown Speedway, and worked with Buffalo River Race Park in Glyndon, Minn., for these four dates. Memorial Day season debut for IMCA Modifieds at Sheyenne Speedway

LISBON, N.D. – IMCA Modifieds make their appropriate season debut at Sheyenne Speedway on Memorial Day. The race program at Lisbon gets underway at 6 p.m. Monday, May 27. The VFW Color Guard will present and then raise the flag before the National Anthem, there will be a four-wide salute on the track and the National Guard will be on hand with a Hummer as the pace vehicle. “Memorial Day has and always will be a very special day as we remember those we have lost and thank those who serve to keep us safe in this great country,” said promoter Benjie Froemke. “Lisbon is also home to the North Dakota Veterans Home and we pay tribute to those who have served by recognizing them and thanking them for their service while remembering those who have lost their lives in preserving the many freedoms we enjoy.” Remaining IMCA Modified dates at Sheyenne are June 30, Aug. 4 and Aug. 11.

Arneson scores Sheyenne Speedway IMCA Modified win

By Tom Berg LISBON, N.D. (May 27) – Austin Arneson took the lead early and never gave it up in picking up the Memorial Day IMCA Modified win at Sheyenne Speedway. John Nord was second, Greg Friestad third, Dylan Goplen fourth after starting last in the field and Dave Shipley fifth. The 1/4-mile oval at Lisbon hosted a track-record 118 cars for the holiday event.

First-Time Champions Sweep Winter Nationals Titles at Casa Grande

(Feb. 4, 2026) — More than 300 drivers representing five Speedway Motors IMCA Weekly Racing divisions converged on Central Arizona Raceway for the 2026 DeVilbiss Racing Chassis IMCA TV Winter Nationals, competing across eight nights of racing at the 3/8-mile clay oval. Racers from over 20 states and multiple Canadian provinces made the journey to Casa Grande, highlighting the national and international reach of the Winter Nationals as first-time champions emerged across every division. A total of 112 competitors contested Karl Kustoms IMCA Modified action. Dylan Thornton of Belle Plaine, Iowa, secured the Winter Nationals Modified championship after winning the opening three rounds and adding a fourth victory in round six.
