Clements notches first career victory

Bryce Clements captured his career-first Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod checkers Saturday at Shawano Speedway.

SHAWANO, Wis. (June 16) – Second-generation racer Bryce Clements scored his first Karl Chevro­let Northern SportMod career feature win Saturday night at Shawano Speedway.
The win was an early Father’s Day gift for his dad Scott, a former local sportsman racer.
Kaden Besaw led the early stages while Clements fell in line behind him. Clements used the out­side line to his advantage to take the lead on lap three and Kyle Raddant soon began to battle Besaw for second.
Raddant eventually would get past Besaw, as would Jordan Barkholtz. The race was marred by a se­ries of late cautions but Clements survived every challenge.
Multi-time track champion Eddie Muenster scored his first local IMCA Modified win of the year and Travis Van Straten brought home win number four in IMCA Sunoco Stock Car action.

Wilinski, Forstner, Schmidt all repeat at Shawano

(Aug. 15) – It almost felt like déjà vu all over again Saturday as Konnor Wilkinski, Chucky Forstner and Jayden Schmidt returned to victory lane for the second week in a row at Shawano Speedway.   Lap one of the IMCA Modified feature saw Kevin Feck go from third to first to lead the field. As Feck led, Wilinski began to work through traffic after starting 10th. A caution after lap six bunched the field up and Wilinski capitalized, going from his third place restart position to the inside of Feck to snag the lead.   Wilinski did not look back as he drove to his second win of the year.  Feck finished in second and Marcus Yarie raced all the way from 18th to third.  Jeremie Hedrick would lead the early stages of the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature while being pres­sured by Gary Kasperek and Forstner.  The trio went three-wide for the lead on lap four.  Hedrick still held the lead until lap six when Forstner utilized the inside groove [Read More]

‘B’ main to victory lane for Michonski on Hall of Fame Night

(June 27) – The fans that came out in droves for Hall of Fame Night at Shawano Speedway enjoyed a hall of fame caliber performance from Dan Michonski Saturday night.  After qualifying from a ‘B’ feature, Michonski started 17th and hustled all the way to the front of the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature field. Trent Nolan and Jeremie Hedrick fought for the lead at the start and were quickly joined by Rod Snellenberger and Brandon Czarapata at the front.  With Nolan leading, Czarapata took to the outside to pass for the lead on lap seven.                                                                                                                     Czarapata looked to be firmly on charge when a caution flew on lap 13.  Czarapata continued to lead [Read More]

Block is best in IMCA Modified main at Shawano

By Scott Owen SHAWANO, Wis. (May 19) – Rookie Wyatt Block won his first career IMCA Modified feature Satur­day at Shawano Speedway. Trevor Spaulding pulled to the early lead with Eddie Muenster in tow. As those two paced the field, Block began to work through the field after starting the race in 10th.  By the time Block passed Muenster for second near the midpoint of the race, Spaulding had built up a sizeable ad­vantage. Block continued to reel in Spaulding, though, before a caution after lap 13 bunched the field back up. Block took advantage and grabbed the lead with an inside pass for the lead on lap 15, then never looked back in scoring his first IMCA Modified win. Spaulding finished second. Lance Arneson was the hard charger as he moved from 17th starting to finish third. Jeremy Christians notched another IMCA Sunoco Stock Car win, his first of the 2018 season, while Lucas Lamberies remained unbeaten in the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods as he won his third feature in a row.
