SHAWANO, Wis. (June 16) – Second-generation racer Bryce Clements scored his first Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod career feature win Saturday night at Shawano Speedway.
The win was an early Father’s Day gift for his dad Scott, a former local sportsman racer.
Kaden Besaw led the early stages while Clements fell in line behind him. Clements used the outside line to his advantage to take the lead on lap three and Kyle Raddant soon began to battle Besaw for second.
Raddant eventually would get past Besaw, as would Jordan Barkholtz. The race was marred by a series of late cautions but Clements survived every challenge.
Multi-time track champion Eddie Muenster scored his first local IMCA Modified win of the year and Travis Van Straten brought home win number four in IMCA Sunoco Stock Car action.
By Scott Owens SHAWANO, Wis. (July 6) – Jeffery Teske has roots at the Shawano Speedway going back to his grandfather Jeff, a multi-time feature winner in the IMCA Modified division in the early 1990s. Now, only eight races into his rookie campaign in the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod division, Teske has notched his name in the Shawano Speedway record books after recording his first career feature win. Fellow rookie Dylan Waldvogel led the early stages as Teske chased him in second. Teske got underneath Waldvogel on lap six to snag the top spot. Teske looked like a seasoned veteran as he pulled away from the field down the stretch. Point leader Jordan Bartz got to second but could not catch Teske, who cruised to the win followed by Bartz, 17th starting Bryce Clements, Matthew Radtke and Kevin Bethke. Marcus Yarie was the IMCA Modified winner and Travis Van Straten topped the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car main.
By Scott Owen SHAWANO, Wis. (May 26) – It was a day to remember for Jason Ebert. During the afternoon, Ebert walked across the stage as he graduated from Clintonville High School. In the evening, Ebert raced to victory lane in the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod feature at Shawano Speedway, ending Lucas Lamberies’ three-race win streak. Bryce Clements took the early lead while being challenged by Ebert, who was able to make the pass for the lead on lap four. Through the remainder of the race, Ebert was pressured by Kyle Raddant and Lucas Lamberies. Ebert fended off all comers as he scored his first win of the year. Lamberies, Raddant, Jordan Barkholtz, and Jason Jach rounded out the top five. Kevin Feck won his first local IMCA Modified feature while Travis Van Straten was the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car victor.
SHAWANO, Wis. – While the drivers took the checkers, the real winners of Shawano Speedway’s Aug. 1 Racing For A Reason program were young cancer patients and their families. Proceeds from basket donations, silent auctions, bucket drops and drawings at the annual event approached $17,000, putting the total raised for childlife services provided at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Green Bay over the past decade at some $153,000. “Shawano is a tightknit community and I tell people the speedway is family. If something happens to someone, we’re all there and that’s pretty cool,” said track marketing and promotions director Brad Luepke. “I would never have guessed this event would grow the way it has every year.” One hundred percent of the money raised through Racing For A Reason help kids with cancer and their families in a multitude of ways – 2019 proceeds, for example, were used toward the purchase of a state-of-the-art sanitizing closet for shared toys – and the event itself plays out with a full pit area and packed grandstand. “Even drivers who don’t race with us [Read More]
