SHAWANO, Wis. (June 16) – Second-generation racer Bryce Clements scored his first Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod career feature win Saturday night at Shawano Speedway.
The win was an early Father’s Day gift for his dad Scott, a former local sportsman racer.
Kaden Besaw led the early stages while Clements fell in line behind him. Clements used the outside line to his advantage to take the lead on lap three and Kyle Raddant soon began to battle Besaw for second.
Raddant eventually would get past Besaw, as would Jordan Barkholtz. The race was marred by a series of late cautions but Clements survived every challenge.
Multi-time track champion Eddie Muenster scored his first local IMCA Modified win of the year and Travis Van Straten brought home win number four in IMCA Sunoco Stock Car action.

(Aug. 24) – Nate Michonski and Trent Nolan brought the Shawano Speedway crowd to its feet as the two traded paint in the race to the checkered flag in Saturday’s IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature. Michonski prevailed for his first win of the year. The feature started with a four-wide battle to lead lap one with Vern Stedjee ahead of the pack by a bumper. The four-wide battle continued on lap two, but this time it was Tom Riehl leading the way. On lap three, Nolan took his car to the front of the pack. Michonski moved to second on lap five and the lead duo began to pull away a bit from the rest of the field. On lap 17, Michonski pulled to the inside and led by the slightest of margins at the line. Nolan tried to return the favor on lap 18 as he went to the inside but to no avail. Not giving up the chase, Nolan again pulled alongside Michonski on the final lap. In the IMCA Modified feature, Shawn Frelich and Jesse Peebles led the field to the line. Peebles grabbed the early advantage while Konnor Wilinski began his move forward after starting eighth. Wilinski captured the top spot a few laps later. Wilinski began to pull away as Marcus Yarie and Lance Arneson gave chase. As the top three worked themselves free of the pack, Lucas Lamberies was slicing his way through the field. Wilinski proved up to the challenge, grabbing the feature win with Yarie finishing second. It only took Chucky Forstner a couple laps to take the top spot in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature. By Justin Zirngible. SHAWANO, Wis. (May 7, 2022) – Three IMCA drivers raced to season-first wins at Shawano Speedway on Saturday night. The IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars took to the track for the first “A” main of the night and The Class Too Tough To Tame did not disappoint. The father-son duo of Vern and Dylan Stedjee started on the front row for the 20-lap main event. Vern Stedjee got the jump on the start and led the first 15 circuits. A late caution tightened the field as the high line was starting to come in. Shawano’s Trent Nolan would use that groove to gain the advantage after the restart and go on to take the checkered flag. A rough start for the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods resulted in a time-shortened feature. Hollie Welch held the lead for the start of the event and Kevin Bethke led a number of the mid-race circuits, but 11th starting Tyler Sobiesczyk was not going to be denied with his new mount, debuting for the first time in 2022.
