Dubuque Speedway opens with Schueller, Busch winners

DUBUQUE, Iowa (April 29) – The 2018 racing season is officially underway at the Dubuque Speedway with opening night action being held on Sunday, April 29.

Jason Schueller served notice that winning the track championship in 2017 was only incentive to repeat in the very tough IMCA Modified division. Schueller drove his new Rage chassis to the 20-lap feature win ahead of Mark Schulte and Tyler Madigan.

Scott Busch used his front row start to his advantage in the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and earned the opening night feature win. Busch led flag to flag in scoring the win ahead of Jerry Miles and Tyler Soppe.

Gansen rolls to Dubuque IMCA Modified win

By Rob Hinckley DUBUQUE, Iowa (Aug. 4) – He hit the gas early and never looked back. Matt Gansen raced to the front from his fifth starting position and won his second race in the last three tries at Dubuque Speedway Sunday evening. The Merfeld Brothers Automotive IMCA Modified ace took the non-stop 20-lap affair over early leader Timmy Current, Bryce Garnhart, Jed Freiburger and Jeff Larson. Jason Roth finally got the monkey off his back in the Peosta Warehousing Logistics IMCA Northern SportMod 15-lap finale. After leading the previous three, he kept it on top this night for the win. Dubuque Deery date rescheduled for April 28

DUBUQUE, Iowa (April 15) – The new date for the Deery Brothers Summer Series show at Dubuque Speedway is Sunday, April 28. Postponed from April 14, the main event for touring IMCA Late Models pays $2,500 to win and a minimum of $300 to start and headlines the Hershel Roberts/Ray Guss Sr. Memorial program originally scheduled last Saturday at Maquoketa Speedway. The April 13 show lost to low temperatures will not be rescheduled. Also running at Dubuque will be IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods for national, regional, state and track points, along with a local 4-cylinder class. Switch in lines pays off for Callahan

By Rob Hinckley DUBUQUE, Iowa (July 7) – A change of plans for Joel Callahan. The Dubuque veteran switched lines on the fly and took the Eichman’s Bar and Grill IMCA Late Model 25-lap feature Sunday evening on his home track. “I thought it would be a top side track, but that changed,” Callahan said in Dubuque Speedway’s Hoker Trucking/C&W Trucking/Kam Koncepts Victory Circle. “It got treacherous up there so we hooked up down low.” Callahan rolled off fifth and quickly moved into the fray for the point. He moved past Ron Klein on a late restart en route to the win. Luke Goedert also found the bottom to his liking and took second late. Klein, Jeremiah Hurst and Luke Merfeld followed. Caleb Gardner: Carrying a Family Number and Answering a Call to Serve

(Oct. 23, 2026) — When Caleb Gardner climbed out of his No. 39 Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stock at Dacotah Speedway on Saturday, Oct. 3, another night of racing had come to an end. But this particular evening carried a little more significance for the Glyndon, Minn., driver, who was preparing to trade the familiar surroundings of dirt tracks and race shops for an overseas deployment with the Minnesota National Guard. The Oktoberfest program in Mandan, N.D., marked Gardner’s final race before departing overseas, where he will serve as a tracked-vehicle recovery operator. For Gardner, racing has always been more than a weekend pastime. His grandfather, Al, raced before his father, Randy, and brother, Doug, followed into the sport. Whiteaker Wins Three-Wide Showdown while Torres Breaks Through in STIMS Texana Clash

By Nick Robbins EDNA, Texas (Oct. 17, 2026) — The Southern Touring IMCA Modified Series presented by On Demand Shirts took the green flag for its 2026 season finale at Texana Raceway Park during the Lance and Martha Toler Last Call Racing Texana Clash. Two separate $1,500-to-win shows produced two different winners, with one grabbing his first victory of the season. The first heat race went three-wide at the green flag, with Steven Whiteaker Jr. storming through the middle of the track to take the lead from fourth off turn two. Reigning series champion Jared Maupin got loose entering turn three, leaving Shawn Sandegren with nowhere to go as contact brought out the caution. The second attempt saw polesitter Brian Machicek hold off a charge from Logan Dinsmore to lead the opening lap. Inaugural Wild River Diamond in the Desert Set for Cocopah Speedway Nov. 4-7

(Oct. 21, 2026) — Some of the biggest names in Speedway Motors IMCA racing will converge on Cocopah Speedway Nov. 4-7 for the inaugural Wild River Diamond in the Desert, featuring three nights of competition and an $8,000 payday awaiting the Karl Kustoms IMCA Modified winner. Presented by Wild River Family Entertainment Center, the first-year event will bring five IMCA divisions to the Diamond in the Desert for a weekend of racing in southwestern Arizona. The four-day gathering begins Wednesday, Nov. 4, with an open practice session before racing gets underway Thursday, Nov. 5, and continues through Saturday, Nov. 7.
