ALGONA, Iowa (July 30, 2026) — Tim Sidles raced to his first Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stock victory of the season Thursday night, winning the Marilyn Wickman Memorial feature at Kossuth County Speedway.
Wickman, who passed away last summer, was a regular in the grandstands in Algona throughout the years watching her sons and grandsons race as five different members of the Wickman clan competed on Thursday evening.
The Emmetsburg driver, Sidles, jumped into the lead from the outside front row and paced the 20-car field through a pair of early cautions before surviving a red flag with two laps remaining when Wyatt Johnson rolled along the frontstretch.
Sidles was never challenged over the closing laps to secure the victory.
The win was Sidles’ first of the season in the B&B Racing Chassis Northern Region. Brandon Nielsen charged from 20th to finish second and earn hard charger honors, Doug Wickman was third, Jay Sidles finished fourth, and Grant Haugland rounded out the top five.
Shryock Charges to Stock Car Victory
Kelly Shryock worked his way forward from ninth starting position to capture the Sunoco IMCA Stock Car feature.
Mike Hansen led the opening four laps before McCain Jennings took over. Shryock grabbed the lead following a lap-seven caution and held off the field through multiple late yellow flags to score the win.
The Fertile driver earned his eighth EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region victory of the season and third at Algona in 2026. Troy Swearingen finished second, Jennings crossed the stripe third, Wayne Landheer was fourth, and David Wickman completed the top five. Shryock also earned hard charger honors after advancing eight positions.
Looft Capitalizes Late in Modified Feature
Matt Looft inherited the lead with two laps remaining when Mike Jergens pulled to the pits with mechanical trouble and drove away to win the Karl Kustoms IMCA Modified feature.
Jergens had controlled nearly the entire race before his late misfortune handed the lead to the Swea City driver.
Looft earned his fourth Razor Chassis North Central Region victory of the season and first at Kossuth County Speedway in 2026. Chaz Baca Jr. finished second, Jeremy Mills was third, Nick Meyer crossed the stripe fourth, and Jason Bass rounded out the top five.
Tacheny Breaks Through in SportMods
Jacob Tacheny raced to his first Karl Kustoms IMCA Northern SportMod victory of the season.
Leah Reutzel led the opening four laps before Charlie Stevens moved to the front. Tacheny took command on lap five and pulled away after a lap-seven caution to seal the win.
The Burt driver scored his first victory of 2026. Stevens finished second, Josh Appel was third, Alec Fett crossed the stripe fourth, and Jake Simpson completed the top five. Tacheny and Fett shared hard charger honors after each gained five positions.
