Southern SportMod Super Nationals Returns to Kennedale Speedway Park Sept. 10-12

KENNEDALE, Texas (July 27, 2026) — The premier event for the Smiley’s Racing Products IMCA Southern SportMods returns this fall as Kennedale Speedway Park hosts the Summit Racing Equipment IMCA Southern SportMod Super Nationals, highlighted by a $5,000-to-win, $500-to-start championship feature on Saturday, Sept. 12.

The multi-day event offers competitors multiple opportunities to race for big money, with one driver capable of collecting $7,000 by sweeping all three marquee features.

The action begins Saturday, Sept. 5, with the Photos By Mike Frieri Prelude, paying $1,000 to win. The Prelude winner will earn a guaranteed starting position in the Southern SportMod All-Star Race.

Because the 2026 All-Star Tour was rained out, eligibility for the All-Star Race has been expanded. Any IMCA Southern SportMod driver who competes in the Prelude at KSP, as well as any driver who has won an IMCA Southern SportMod-sanctioned event during the 2026 season, will be eligible to compete for a spot in the no-entry-fee, $1,000-to-win, $100-to-start All-Star Race.

The Super Nationals weekend resumes Thursday, Sept. 10, with an open practice followed by All-Star qualifying heat races.

Friday, Sept. 11, features double qualifying heat races for the Super Nationals along with the All-Star Race. The winner will earn a guaranteed starting position in Saturday’s Super Nationals championship feature.

Championship Saturday, Sept. 12, includes C Mains, B Mains and the Southern SportMod Super Nationals big dance.

Since its inaugural running in 2022, the event has crowned a different champion each year. Marcus Mikulencak won the inaugural edition before Dean Abbey claimed top honors in 2023, Ray Allen Kulhanek captured the 2024 title, and Kyle Wilkins added his name to the list of champions in 2025.

Early registration opens Aug. 1 through MyRacePass and is $90 through Sept. 5. Beginning Sept. 6, late registration will be $140. Only drivers who register during the early entry period will be eligible for the Lucky Dog Draw, where one lucky non-qualified driver will receive a provisional starting position in the championship feature.

IMCA Modifieds, Stock Cars get top billing at Kennedale’s season-opening Spring Kickoff

KENNEDALE, Texas (Feb. 19, 2024) – Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds and IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars headline both nights of Kennedale Speedway Park’s season-opening Spring Kickoff special. Friday, Feb. 23 and Saturday, Feb. 24 main events see the Modifieds race for $1,000 to win and Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying eligibility. Stock Cars chase $750 top checks and B & B Racing Chassis All-Star Invitational qualifying eligibility. Smiley’s Racing Products IMCA Southern SportMods run for $500 to win on Friday and $600 to win on Saturday while Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts run for $200 to win each night. All Star Shootout Stock Car champion Shelby Williams

BONHAM, Texas (May 26, 2024) – Shelby Williams once again performed in championship style in this year’s IMCA All Star Shootout, successfully defending his 2023 IMCA Sunoco Stock Car title. Picking up his first win right out of the gate at Southern Oklahoma Speedway on opening night, Williams set the stage going into the rest of the tour with a lot of momentum behind him. Sanders Wins Frank Brewer Memorial G-60 Classic at Cottage Grove

(July 25, 2026) — Matt Sanders continued his outstanding 2026 season Saturday night, capturing the $3,000-to-win second annual Frank Brewer Memorial G-60 Classic for the Karl Kustoms IMCA Modifieds at Cottage Grove Speedway. The 60-lap feature was contested in two segments with a midway break. Defending race winner Ethan Killingsworth, the reigning Southern Oregon Speedway champion and National Rookie of the Year, paced the opening circuits before an early caution on lap two. Fresh off his IMCA Wild West Speedweek championship in June, Sanders moved into second on the restart and began applying pressure to Killingsworth. The Brookings driver made his first serious bid on lap six but was denied before using the low groove to complete the pass on lap nine.
