ANTIOCH, Calif. (May 9, 2026) — Danny Wagner of Bay Point captured the 20-lap Karl Kustoms IMCA Northern SportMod main event Saturday night at Antioch Speedway, earning his first Antioch victory of the season and second overall win of the year.
The reigning California State and Watsonville Speedway champion entered the night with momentum after winning at Watsonville Speedway the evening before. The victory also marked Wagner’s sixth different division in which he has won a main event at Antioch Speedway.
Heat race winners Mark Garner of Antioch and Wagner led the field to green, with Wagner settling into second during the opening laps. Wagner made a backstretch pass on Garner on lap five to take command before a yellow flag slowed the pace one lap later following a three-car incident in turn four.
Wagner maintained the lead on the restart while Trevor Clymens of Brentwood slipped past Garner for second. Antioch’s Alfred Johnson brought out another caution on lap eight after becoming involved in his second incident of the race.
Wagner continued setting the pace while Garner used the outside groove to regain second from Clymens. Brentwood veteran Fred Ryland followed Garner into third before making an inside pass in turn four on lap 10 to take over second. A caution for Antioch’s James Graessle on lap 12 tightened the field once again.
Garner reclaimed second on the restart, but Ryland fought back and secured the position for good on lap 16. Wagner stayed smooth and controlled out front to collect the victory ahead of Ryland. Atwater’s Tanner Thomas slipped underneath Garner in turn four on lap 19 to grab third at the finish. Clymens and Al Johnson completed the top five.
Troy Foulger of Oakley enjoyed a double-win evening in Sunoco IMCA Stock Car and Karl Kustoms IMCA Modified competition.
Foulger’s Stock Car victory was his third EQ Cylinder Heads Southern Region triumph of the season, with all three coming at Antioch Speedway. In the feature, Foulger jumped into the lead at the start ahead of Rio Vista’s Jason Robles and Atwater’s Justin Villanueva.
Foulger steadily increased his advantage while Robles maintained a secure hold on second. Behind them, Villanueva, Kenneth Robles, and Fred Ryland waged an entertaining battle for position during the second half of the race.
At the checkered flag, Foulger scored the victory ahead of Jason Robles, Villanueva, Kenneth Robles, and Ryland.
The Karl Kustoms IMCA Modified feature had a competitive field.
Foulger immediately established command at the green flag while Andrew Pearce and Ryan McDaniel gave chase. Pearce spun in turn four while attempting to pressure Foulger on lap nine, bringing out the caution flag.
McDaniel later spun in turn two on lap 13, but was able to continue. Foulger maintained control on the ensuing restart, and Pearce spun again in turn two on the final lap as Foulger raced away to his first DeVilbiss Racing Chassis Western Region victory of the season.
Pearce maintained second ahead of McDaniel and Eric Berendsen.
