COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa (May 8, 2026) — The Sunoco IMCA Stock Cars continue to keep fans on the edge of their seats at CJ Speedway with side-by-side, thrilling racing action. The early part of the season has been dominated by Sigourney’s Nathan Wood. Starting sixth, Wood scored his third consecutive feature win of the year—and third in the EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region—all at the 4/10-mile dirt track on the Louisa County Fairgrounds.

The Friday night win certainly was not an easy one. After advancing through the field and taking over the top spot with five laps remaining, it appeared Wood might cruise to the finish. However, seventh-starting Jordan Miles, making his first visit to CJ Speedway, charged into second and quickly closed the gap.

A late caution set up a two-lap dash to the checkers, and as the leaders raced off turn four, Miles dove to the inside while Wood held his line. At the stripe, Wood prevailed by about three feet. Miles finished second, while North Carolina’s Pat Rachels made a strong run from ninth to third. Kirk Kinsley and Norman Bean completed the top five.

Second-time CJ Speedway visitor Spencer Diercks of Davenport drove his Karl Kustoms IMCA Modified to a hard-fought victory. Starting seventh, Diercks steadily worked his way forward and took the lead from defending track champion Kurt Kile.

A late caution set up a dash to the finish, and as the field raced to the checkers, Kile entered turn four too hard and spun, allowing Diercks to secure his third Razor Chassis North Central Region win of the season at three different Iowa tracks. Brandon Banks crossed the line second, followed by Logan Anderson in third. Dakota Simmons finished fourth, and Blaine Bryant completed the top five.

The Karl Kustoms IMCA Northern SportMods feature saw Tyler Heckart of Ottumwa score his first win of the season. Starting fourth, Heckart moved to the lead early and utilized the high side of the multi-groove racing surface to maintain control. Justin Heuer finished second, followed by Trey Rock, who recovered from early issues to take third. Colton Laymon advanced from 10th to fourth, and Justin Schroeder completed the top five.

The Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stocks delivered another exciting finish as Garrison’s Joren Fisher made a last-lap pass to claim the win. Starting ninth, Fisher worked his way forward and battled Garrett Porter side-by-side on the final circuit, edging him at the line by half a car length. The victory marked Fisher’s second of the season in the B&B Racing Chassis Northern Region at two different tracks. Daniel Wauters, who started seventh, finished third, followed by Kyle Burmeister in fourth. Dalton Weepie rounded out the top five.
