CJ Speedway season opener set for April 26

By Jerry Mackey  COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa (May 20, 2022) – Friday night racing was held at CJ Speedway with a large increase in car count and an action packed night of close racing on the slick and smooth 4/10-mile dirt track on the Louisa County Fairgrounds. The Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature saw Jarrett Brown make his way to victory lane for the second consecutive week. Brown steadily worked to the front from a fifth row start and made the winning pass on lap 12 of the 16-lap feature. Brown slipped by race leader Dakota Simmons by using multiple lines on the very racy track. Simmons took second at the checkers ahead of early leader Jonathan Huston. Johnny Spaw has been so busy building race cars that his racing schedule has been very limited. By Jerry Mackey COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa (May 5, 2023) – With Mother Nature threatening to spoil the fun, CJ Speedway was able to complete the racing program at 9:45 p.m. on Friday night just before rain moved into the area.  The Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds put on a spectacular race with the lead changing hands several times in the early going. Jerry King led before Troy Cordes, looking to become a repeat winner, took over. Jarrett Brown started in the fourth row and steadily made his way to the front, securing the lead following a lap 10 restart. Brown went on to capture the win at his home track ahead of late race challenger Ethan Braaksma. King took third ahead of Dakota Simmons.  The IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars came to the green with Leah Wroten taking command from the pole position. By Jerry Mackey COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa (July 21, 2023) – Friday night, fans at CJ Speedway were treated to a fantastic evening of IMCA racing on the perfectly prepared 4/10-mile dirt track with three of the five main event winners being determined on the final lap.  The Friesen Performance IMCA Modified main event saw Anthony Guss lead the first couple circuits before Blaine Webster took over the point position. Ninth starting Jarrett Brown worked to the front and took over the top spot and with the year the Ainsworth driver has been having, it appeared as the race for the lead was over and the battle for second would be on. Brandon Banks, in his second night in his new car, chased down Brown and set up a late-race charge that would net him his first win of the year at CJ.
