Clay Claims Victory in SportMod Feature at El Paso County

CALHAN, Colo. (May 3, 2025)  A strong field of 12 drivers packed the pits of El Paso County Raceway for the Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMod division, and when the dust settled in the feature, it was Scott Clay of Colorado Springs parking his machine in victory lane.

Starting from the pole, Clay led wire-to-wire, fending off heavy pressure in the closing laps to seal the win. His heat win earlier in the evening set the tone for a dominant performance.

Coming from the fourth starting spot, Dave Stock made significant headway to claim second place in the main event. Stock showed consistency throughout the night, including a strong second-place run in his heat race. Barry Halley maintained his starting position to round out the podium in third.

Alberson Sweeps the Night in IMCA Stock Cars

Brady Alberson, of Las Cruces, New Mexico, delivered a flawless performance Saturday night in the Sunoco IMCA Stock Car division, going two-for-two by winning both his heat race and the A Feature in dominant fashion.

Alberson started third in the heat race and quickly surged to the front, setting the tone for the rest of the night. In the main event, he drew the pole position and never looked back, leading every lap en route to a convincing victory over a strong nine-car field.

Behind him, Brian Lessig made moves throughout the night gaining two positions in the feature to lock down the runner-up spot. Herman Garcia showed consistency, finishing third in both his heat and the main event.

With clean, competitive racing and plenty of passing, the IMCA Stock Car division delivered another exciting night of action at El Paso County Raceway. Fans can expect the competition to only heat up as the season continues.

Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stock drivers from La Junta went 1-2 in their main event, with Berry Brock making a strong run from fourth to take the win over Gordon French. Stacee Payne moved up three spots to finish on the podium.

In Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compact competition Leann O’Lear, of Boone, dominated both the heat and the feature, leading flag-to-flag in a smooth performance. Nathaniel Harris made a solid gain to finish second.
