DeYoung Powers to Crystal Victory, Extends Incredible Streak

CRYSTAL, Mich. (Apr. 26, 2025) — Myron DeYoung proved the high side was the fast lane at Crystal Motor Speedway, using a late-race move to claim his first Friesen Performance IMCA Modified win of the 2025 season — and extend one of IMCA’s most impressive streaks.

With the victory, DeYoung has now won at least one IMCA Modified main event in each of the last 31 consecutive seasons, continuing a remarkable run that spans more than three decades.

Jaycob Truemner grabbed the initial lead after a spirited battle with Jerry Hunt. However, defending track champion Jeff Reay was on the move early, methodically working the bottom line and powering into the top spot by lap three after starting seventh.

A lap 4 caution bunched the field, and on the restart, multi-time Crystal track champ and two-time defending DeVilbiss Racing Eastern Region titleholder DeYoung began mounting his charge. Running the cushion with confidence, DeYoung drew alongside Reay several times before finally clearing him on lap 13.

Once out front, DeYoung never looked back, navigating the historic 3/8-mile to perfection. The hometown driver, who rolled off sixth, also added his name to the eligibility list for the 2025 Fast Shafts All-Star Modified Invitational at the Speedway Motors IMCA Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s.

Reay settled for second while Chase Rosebrugh impressed with a rally from 11th to finish third.

Crystal mourns loss of Brandon Bogart

(May 14, 2022) – Crystal Motor Speedway canceled events scheduled for Saturday night due to wet conditions and the threat of rain.   Racing aside, the track would like to take a moment to recognize our loss.  Early in the afternoon of May 11, Crystal Motor Speedway and Montcalm County lost an employee, a faithful friend, family member, and a wonderful human being. Brandon Bogart had worked at the track since he was 12 and was a fireman for Crystal Township, Home Township and the Stanton Community fire departments. He had been fighting cancer for over a year at Metro Hospital and finally laid down his fireman’s coat and went ‘home.’ Brandon fought the disease with courage and humor. Ron Flinn, CMS owner and promoter said, “Brandon was a great person who always went above and beyond to help people at the track and in the community for a lot of years. Ward captures opening checkers at Crystal

CRYSTAL, Mich. (April 20) – After picking up a couple IMCA Modified feature wins during his racing vacation to Florida, A.J. Ward returned to a more familiar setting to continue pursuit of a fourth straight Dirt Works Eastern Region title.  Ward topped Saturday’s opening night feature at Crystal Motor Speedway ahead of ninth starting Mitchell Hunt and Brenten DeYoung. Matt Szecsodi scored hard charger honors after qualifying out of his “B” feature, starting 18th and ending in sixth.
