CJ Speedway fans see See score Stock Car win

COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa (July 5, 2024) – Oveson Refuse and Recycle hosted IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing action at the CJ Speedway located on the Louisa County Fairgrounds in Columbus Junction on Friday.

The first main event on the program was the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks. 2023 national rookie of the year Tucker Richardson led the main event for the first eight laps, holding off Luke Phillips. Richardson was not able to hold off a move that Phillips used working the extreme high line of the track coming off of turn two on lap number nine.

Phillips went on to take the checkers first ahead of Richardson, with Shane Richardson crossing under the checkers in third. 

The IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars were up next with another great race treating fans to plenty of wheel to wheel action as drivers raced four-wide on several occasions. Austin Kemper was looking for his second win of the year at CJ and led for several laps before he was overtaken by the sixth position starter, Jason See.

He was was able to move into a comfortable lead as the pack of cars battling for second swelled to five divers. At the finish line it was See with the win and Keegan Wells took second by less than a car length ahead of Kemper.

In the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature, defending track champion Jarrett Brown picked up another win. Brown started in the 12th position and steadily worked to the front, taking the lead at the midway point. Brown got to the checkers ahead of Kurt Kile and Blaine Webster. 

The final checkered flag of the night waved following the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod main event.

Shane Paris led the main early from his outside front row starting position but he was unable to hold off Logan Anderson. The 53 of Anderson used several sliders in turns one and two and was finally able to make a slider hold and take over the lead on lap number 11 of the 16-lap feature. Anderson raced on to the checkers ahead of Paris and Sean Wyett. 

Weekly IMCA racing will continue at CJ Speedway with Sinclair Tractor of Muscatine hosting the action on Friday, July 12. Hot laps will take to the track at 7 p.m. with racing to follow.
