CJ Speedway fans see See score Stock Car win

COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa (July 5, 2024) – Oveson Refuse and Recycle hosted IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing action at the CJ Speedway located on the Louisa County Fairgrounds in Columbus Junction on Friday.

The first main event on the program was the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks. 2023 national rookie of the year Tucker Richardson led the main event for the first eight laps, holding off Luke Phillips. Richardson was not able to hold off a move that Phillips used working the extreme high line of the track coming off of turn two on lap number nine.

Phillips went on to take the checkers first ahead of Richardson, with Shane Richardson crossing under the checkers in third. 

The IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars were up next with another great race treating fans to plenty of wheel to wheel action as drivers raced four-wide on several occasions. Austin Kemper was looking for his second win of the year at CJ and led for several laps before he was overtaken by the sixth position starter, Jason See.

He was was able to move into a comfortable lead as the pack of cars battling for second swelled to five divers. At the finish line it was See with the win and Keegan Wells took second by less than a car length ahead of Kemper.

In the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature, defending track champion Jarrett Brown picked up another win. Brown started in the 12th position and steadily worked to the front, taking the lead at the midway point. Brown got to the checkers ahead of Kurt Kile and Blaine Webster. 

The final checkered flag of the night waved following the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod main event.

Shane Paris led the main early from his outside front row starting position but he was unable to hold off Logan Anderson. The 53 of Anderson used several sliders in turns one and two and was finally able to make a slider hold and take over the lead on lap number 11 of the 16-lap feature. Anderson raced on to the checkers ahead of Paris and Sean Wyett. 

Weekly IMCA racing will continue at CJ Speedway with Sinclair Tractor of Muscatine hosting the action on Friday, July 12. Hot laps will take to the track at 7 p.m. with racing to follow.

Jared makes it Miller Time at CJ Speedway

COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa (June 24, 2022) – Jared Miller has seen his motor luck go from bad to worse so far this season, but still had a good feeling going into his IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock main event Friday night at CJ Speedway. Those positive vibes became reality after the West Branch driver drew the pole start and held off heavy hitters Randy LaMar and John Irwin following a late restart for the checkers. Osborn scores first-ever win at CJ Speedway

By Jerry Mackey COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa (Aug. 2, 2024) – Troy and Keaton Mitchell of Mitchell Farm Bureau and Mitchell Arms and Ammo hosted the racing action on Friday night with a strong car count and a great crowd in attendance on a beautiful early August evening.  It is always very special to see a driver score their first ever feature win and that happened on Friday night in the very tough Friesen Performance IMCA Modified division. With a stellar field of 18 drivers taking the initial green flag it was the young Kolton Osborn setting sail and shooting into the lead from his third row start. Osborn, who has been knocking on the door of victory lane all year at CJ Speedway, finally saw his hard work come to fruition but the win was anything but easy. Out of the field, Strothman wins on the track at CJ

By Jerry Mackey COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa (June 18) – On a warm sultry night, racing action went on at the CJ Speedway with a quick racing program being run just before rains moved in at the Louisa County Fairgrounds. The headliner of the night was the 20-lap IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature and on Friday night it belonged to Corey Strothman.  The C4 of Strothman started on the front row and was never seriously challenged as he raced to the win. The action behind Strothman was hot and heavy as several drivers took their turns racing in the second position. When the checkers flew it was Adam Bell crossing under the checkers in second ahead of Kirk Kinsley and Shane Richardson. Strothman stated in victory lane, “We are finally caught up on the farm so it is now time to start racing.”  Brandon Banks chased down early leader Kyle Madden and took the lead in the 20-lap IMCA Modified feature and went on to score his second feature win in a row at CJ Speedway.
