Keltner returns to CJ Speedway as new promoter

By Jerry Mackey COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa (June 4) – After a three-week hiatus due to wet weather, racing finally resumed at CJ Speedway. The headliner of the night was the 20-lap IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature, which saw 18 drivers take the initial green flag. The race was paced early by Stan O’Brian, who held the field at bay until three laps to go when Dustin Griffiths was able to make a move in turn three for the lead using the high line. Griffiths raced to the checkers ahead of O’Brian and defending track champion Adam Bell.  The IMCA Modified feature produced a very popular win for CJ regular Dan “Stumpy” Brockert. Last year, Brockert raced in the SportMod class and the season produced one win. By Jerry Mackey COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa (July 15, 2022) – Racing action returned to the CJ Speedway on the Louisa County Fairgrounds in Columbus Junction following two consecutive rainouts. The wet conditions on the grounds made for a very high speed racing surface on Friday night. The fans were treated to a very nice Fireworks display courtesy of Patriot Fireworks following the racing action.   The Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod feature ran as the headliner of the night with a strong field of 20 drivers taking the initial green flag for the main event.  Matt Mayo from Bakersfield, Calif., is spending time in Southeast Iowa racing out of the Shane Paris shop in Muscatine. Mayo took the lead from Matt Lundry and went on to score his first victory since arriving in the Hawkeye State. The feature was only slowed for one minor caution after lap one was completed. Friday, April 26 will be the first night of the IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing point season at the popular 4/10-mile dirt track. Racing that evening is sponsored by Oveson Refuse & Recycling and will see classes of IMCA sanctioned race cars in competition. Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds headline the program and will be joined by IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks.
