130-plus IMCA Modifieds, Stock Cars are Florida bound for Clash on the Coast

BAKER, Fla. (Jan. 29, 2024) – Just north of 130 drivers from across the United States and Canada are headed south for the Clash on the Coast presented by IMCA.TV.

Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds return to race night cards for the second annual speedweek, presented by IMCA.TV and will be joined by IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars for first-ever appearances by The Class Too Tough To Tame at both Northwest Florida Speedway in Baker Feb. 26 and 27, and at Southern Raceway in Milton on March 1 and 2.

Features for both divisions pay $1,000 to win and a minimum of $100 to start. Feature winners become eligible to qualify for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational or the B & B Racing Chassis All-Star Invitational.

All four race programs will be broadcast by IMCA.TV.

“It’s mind boggling that we have gotten this much support from the racing community. We’ve already got more than 80 Modified and more than 50 Stock Car entries, from 20 states and two Canadian provinces,” said speedweek promoter Peyton Taylor. “These being 100 percent IMCA sanctioned events is one reason why so many drivers are interested.”

“And if they’re going to be IMCA races in Florida in February, people are saying let’s do it.”

Clash on the Coast champions each receive $2,500 shares of their respective $10,000 point funds. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, DeVilbiss Racing Chassis Eastern and EQ Cylinder Heads Southern region, and Florida State points will be awarded.

Tow money is $50 and entry fees are $35 each night. IMCA Executive Director of Competition Dave Brenn will be in attendance each night.

Open practices will be Feb. 25 at Baker and Feb. 29 at Milton. Race teams have the days Wednesday and Thursday, Feb. 28 and 29, to spend at the beach.

“We’re excited about Clash. We have got a ton of momentum going into speedweek,” said Taylor, noting that entries in hand are from 20 different states. “I think a lot of the drivers who raced with us last year went home and told people how much fun they had.”

“That got a lot more drivers interested in racing with us this year.”

What else is new for Clash drivers are 10-lap Chassis Challenge races with $2,200 purses and contingency awards, to be held before features on the final night.

Top drivers in point standings in chassis built by participating manufacturers will be eligible for those races. Jerovetz Motorsports has already signed on as sponsor of the Modified Chassis Challenge, with the Stock Car sponsor to be announced.

B & B Racing Chassis, GRT Race Cars, Rage Chassis, Cadillac Chassis, Harris Auto Racing, Lethal Chassis and Sniper Speed are among the Chassis Challenge sponsors. In addition to Jerovetz and IMCA.TV, other IMCA sponsors backing the Clash on the Coast include AERO Race Wheels, Bassett Wheel, Dynamic Drivelines, Fast Shafts, Hoosier Tire, Schoenfeld Headers, Shaw Race Cars, Velocita and Wehrs Machine & Racing Products.
