BOONE, Iowa (Sept. 7, 2023) – Check another IMCA Sunoco Stock Car accomplishment off Dallon Murty’s to-do list.

Murty led all 30 laps of the B & B Racing Chassis All-Star Invitational during Thursday’s IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s program at Boone Speedway.

The convincing win was good for $1,000, another $750 in lap money and a new chassis courtesy of race title sponsor B & B.

“Luckily, I could see the jumbotron,” said Murty, who glanced up at the big screen in the center of the infield to see Kelly Shryock on the move. “You know him, he’s one of the best to roll the tires.”

“That was probably the longest race. I hate rolling the tires like that, but I figured I had to get down there.”

Shryock, winner of the inaugural invitational in 2021, repeated as runner-up. Jeff Ware, Nick Roberts and Jeffrey Abbey completed the top five. Hard charger Jake McBirnie started 26th and finished eighth.

Abbey ran second up to the only caution of the race on lap eight, when Dallon’s dad (and his championship night favorite) Damon came up lame with a flat tire.

Ware took over the second spot before giving way to the seventh starting Shryock who could chase but never caught up with the leader, finishing three-plus seconds off the pace.

“We have had a really good car all week, just no luck,” said Murty, yet to qualify and race for a third straight Super Nationals championship on Saturday night. “This is a cool event. Now, hopefully, we can turn the luck around and put it in (the main event) tomorrow).”

Drivers who had won IMCA sanctioned Stock Car events paying $5,000 or more held since last year’s invitational received automatic starting berths. Two rounds of time trials for 2022 state champions and winners of events paying $750 or more then filled the 30-car B & B Racing Chassis All-Star Invitational field.
