ESTEVAN, Sask. (Aug. 30, 2023) – Kaiden Tuchscherer still recalls the excitement of his first IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s, watching as a 12-year-old fan from the grandstand at Boone Speedway.

He’ll relive that excitement as a competitor at the upcoming and 41st annual event.

The Estevan driver and father/crewman Kevin convoy with his fellow IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock driver Connor Hanson and Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod hotshoe Leevi Runge, beginning their trek to Iowa’s Action Track Friday morning and arriving in plenty of time to turn laps during the Sunday Wild Rose Casino Double Down Prelude.

On Sept. 4, all three will begin their individual quests to become the first Canadian drivers to qualify for their respective main events.

“It was pretty cool to watch all the racing the first time I went, I’m excited to go back and race this time,” said Tuchscherer, now 21. “I don’t know what all to expect. I hope to do well in my heat, make the qualifying feature and make the “A” main. We’ll see how that goes.”

The 2022 track champion at Estevan Motor Speedway, Tuchscherer ran a limited schedule while enrolled in the third year of a heavy duty mechanic apprenticeship. Ten of his 11 starts this year came at Estevan.

“We won the track championship and a couple features last year, then really struggled at the start of this season,” he stated. “We ended with a couple top five finishes and that helps our confidence going to Boone.”

Tuchscherer ran a local enduro class and hung out around Kody Scholpp’s trailer at every opportunity before getting his first Hobby Stock, a former ride of driver-turned IMCA.TV jack of all trades Byron Fichter, for his 15th birthday.

“This is a really competitive class in Canada and North Dakota. The drivers are all friends and we race each other hard but clean,” he said. “We’re really excited to race at Super Nationals.”
