Diamond Park Speedway family suffers huge and sudden loss

NASHVILLE, Ark. (Oct. 18, 2022) – The owners and staff of the Diamond Park Speedway suffered a huge loss this past week with the sudden and tragic passing of head scorer Miki Godwin. 

Miki had been a speedway employee under current ownership since 2017 and was a familiar face both when the gates were open and even when they were not. 

Godwin was more than just a scorer on race nights. She also handled driver 1099, sponsorship opportunities, really wherever help was needed – she was always willing to lend a hand to make her second home the best it could be.

Survivors include her mother Brenda Godwin and Thomas Free of Murfreesboro; her son Austin White of Nashville (Nathan Johnson) of Russellville; daughter Morgan White of Nashville; special daughters Bailey Goldman of Nashville; Makayla Huffman of Delight; as well as her brother and sister Garry (Tammy) Nichols of Paragould.

The family will receive friends and family from 6-8 p.m. tonight (Tuesday) at Latimer Funeral Home in Nashville.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 19, at Diamond Park Speedway, with burial to follow at College Hill Cemetery, under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home in Nashville.

McCollett scores emotional, fulfilling win at Diamond Park

(May 7, 2022) – Victory lane was full of emotions and plenty of tears Saturday night at Diamond Park Speedway as Paul McCollett, driver of the no. 94KB IMCA STARS Mod Lite, found himself amongst family and friends in celebration of his first feature win since his son’s tragic passing.  The elder McCollett and his wife Veronica lost their son Caleb in a motor vehicle accident in October of 2021.  McCollett said “Roni and I agreed that my first win for him was perfect because it was his and our home track for over 20 years. DeWitt proves that patience is key to win at Diamond Park

By Justin Newman MURFREESBORO, Ark. (May 28, 2022) – Current National IMCA STARS Mod Lite points leader Gary Dewitt proved just how important patience, consistency and some hard work pays off. He was able to keep himself in the front long enough to take the win on the first night of the inaugural Mod Lite Mayhem at Diamond Park Speedway.   The event, $3,000 to win and $300 to start the “A” main, continues Sunday with the 30-lap feature presented by Joker Chassis. Four heat races were used to take winners and the top 14 in passing points to the nightly qualifier on Saturday.   Barry Nolan found his way to victory in heat one with DeWitt in tow; DeWitt advanced five spots and this would be key later. IMCA Modifieds, STARS Mod Lites are new jewels at Diamond Park Speedway

NASHVILLE, Ark. – Saturday night race programs at Arkansas’ Diamond Park Speedway will feature both IMCA Modified and STARS Mod Lite divisions this season. Opening night at the 1/3 mile red clay oval, located on Highway 27 South between Nashville and Murfreesboro, is March 20.
