Mullen, Wilson are first at Outagamie fair

SEYMOUR, Wis. (July 22, 2022) – Mike Mullen and Tyler Wilson were IMCA winners Friday at Outagamie Speedway.

Wyatt Block set the pace early in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified 20-lap feature while Mullen set up shop on the outside groove. Mullen use his momentum to take the top spot on lap five, then distanced himself from the field and leaving the battle for second between Block and Jayden Schmidt.

Mullen had the race in hand but a caution with five laps remaining reset the field. Schmidt began to pressure Mullen using the low groove. With two laps remaining, Schmidt worked past Mullen out of turn two but the caution flew, erasing the pass and giving the lead back to Mullen.

On the final restart, Mullen switched to the low groove and held off Schmidt to earn his third feature win of the season. Schmidt had to settle for second at the pay window, Block was third, Benji LaCrosse took fourth and Cody Schroeder rounded out the top five.  

In IMCA Sunoco Stock Car action it was Clint Forstner jumping from his outside front row starting spot and into the lead.

As Forstner paced the field on the cushion, Dan Michonski was the first to challenge but his bid ended with a broken flex plate.  After starting 10th on the grid, Wilson stormed through the field and into the runner-up spot.

Wilson began to chip away at Forstner’s lead. A bobble by Forstner allowed Wilson to sneak by for the lead on lap 17. The caution flew a lap later, setting up a two-lap dash to the checkers.

Wilson got a great restart as Forstner clipped the front stretch wall, ending his night with a flat. Wilson went on the to score his first win of the season. Dan Sell Jr. had his best run of the year to place second, Nick Buckarma moved up 11 spots to take third, Larry Karcz was fourth and Jeremy Christians completed the top five.

Mullen flexes muscles at Outagamie

By Edward Anschutz SEYMOUR, Wis. (July 15) – Brian Mullen made his move to the front on the final circuit in win­ning Sunday’s IMCA Modified main event at Outagamie Speedway. An opening lap wreck in the open wheel headliner sent point leader Mike Mullen down pit lane with damage and he did not return. J.J. Andersen then led from the drop of the green until lap six when Konnor Wilinski took away the top spot. Wilinski paced the field, running up top as Mullen worked through the pack. Mullen began to close with five to go. Mullen made his move as the white flag flew, diving under Wilinski for the lead, the win and top spot in the point standings. Kyle Frederick collected the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car checkers and Cody Schroeder raced past Cole Mangin with four laps remaining to win the IMCA Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod feature. Michael Brehmer came out on top in the Mach-1 Sport Compact main.

LaCrosse, Richards lead the way at Outagamie Speedway

By Edward Anschutz   SEYMOUR, Wis. (Aug. 3) – Benji LaCrosse and Kenny Richards were IMCA winners Tuesday night at Outagamie Speedway. Kelsy Hayes paced the opening laps of the IMCA Modified feature until Greg Gretz raced by up top on lap three. Gretz immediately came under fire from LaCrosse, who was able to slip by for the lead on five. Gretz was up for the challenge and dogged the leader until midway, when Johnny Whitman came to call, racing to second and setting the fastest laps on the track. A caution with three laps remaining bunched the field. As the green flew LaCrosse kept the competition at bay to score the feature win. Whitman had to settle for second, Brian Mullen rallied late to place third, Gretz was fourth and Wyatt Block Jr. rounded out the top five. Action was red flagged on the opening lap of the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature as a multi-car crash saw Travis Van Straten end up on his roof. Mroczkowski edges Van Straten for Outagamie checkers

(Aug. 21) – Josh Mroczkowski took the lead with five laps remaining and went on to win the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature by inches over Travis Van Straten at Outagamie Speedway Friday night. Tyler Wendt raced from the outside pole to the lead on the opening lap. Mroczkowski came to call just past the midway point to take the lead away from Wendt down low. The duo traded the lead over the next few laps with Mroczkowski racing back to the top spot on lap 15. Mroczkowski moved to the upper groove, which allowed Logan Leary and Van Straten to race three-wide under the leader. As the checkers flew it was a two-horse race of Van Straten and Mrocz­kowski racing to the finish line as the pair came across the stripe in a visual dead heat. Tran­sponder scoring gave the victory to Mroczkowski by a mere .049 seconds. Wendt had his best run of the year to place third.
