Former track champ Armstrong returns, takes Hobby Stock checkers at Eagle

EAGLE, Neb. (May 28, 2022) – A rare visit to his old stomping grounds saw Roy Armstrong back in victory lane at Eagle Raceway Saturday night.

The five-time track champion scored his first IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock victory of the season in the Memorial Weekend show at America’s Home Track. 

“It’s such a special night to win on Memorial Weekend, not just to win the feature but to remember all of those that we’ve lost, especially the veterans and those in the Armed Forces who fought for our freedom,” Armstrong said post-race. “It’s just awesome to win here. It’s been a while since I won up here (July 24 of 2021) but we are only running one night a week.” 

“Beatrice canceled last night so we headed up here tonight,” he explained. “That’s kind of how our schedule will be this year. We probably won’t be here every week, so we’ll just be hit and miss. It’s always great to win here with the great competition every week.”

Career win number 73 in the class came ahead of Tyler Jackson and Brad Schreiner.

Dustin Andersen was the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified winner and Mike Boston, back in an IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car after a year off the dirt, led the distance in the winged main event.

Kyle Vanover led the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature from lap 12 to the checkers and Arie Schouten paced the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods the last five circuits.

Pike prevails at Eagle

By Greg Soukup EAGLE, Neb. (May 4) – Gunnar Pike was first to the checkers in the Saturday Sam’s Club IMCA Northern SportMod feature at Eagle Raceway. Pike quickly put his no. 25 machine out front, followed by Adam Vrbka, Derek Hall and Roger Sluka.  Hall passed Vrbka on lap two, Shawn Harker cracked the top four on lap four and on the restart following a lap 10 caution, Harker moved up to third and then advanced to second the following lap.  Arie Schouten put his ride into fourth with seven laps remaining. Nobody could catch Pike despite a se­ries of late cautions. Schouten moved up to third on the final circuit to make the top four Pike, Harker, Schou­ten and Vrbka. Anthony Roth won by five-plus seconds in the Hoosier Tire IMCA Modified feature and Jeff Ware paced the Valentino’s IMCA Hobby Stock finale. Guaranteed to be a “10,” IMCA RaceSaver Nationals kick off at Eagle

EAGLE, Neb. (Sept. 1, 2022) – An event that’s guaranteed to be a “10” kicks off tonight at Eagle Raceway. More than 100 IMCA Sprint Car drivers from 13 states and New Zealand are in town for the Thursday practice session and race of champions qualifying that set the stage for the 10th annual RaceSaver Nationals. They’ll race for $3,000 to win and a minimum of $1,500 to start the Sunday, Sept. 4 main event, with IMCA adding a $1,500 bonus to the winning driver provided they had made at least one 2022 sanctioned start coming into the weekend.
