MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (May 20, 2022) – After a Wednesday night special, the Marshalltown Speedway was right back into action on Friday for night number two of regular weekly points racing.  

Dallon Murty topped the field in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds, Kaden Reynolds was the winner in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Kyle Olson made it two in a row in the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod division, Eric Knutson paced the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Randy Bryan saw his first trip to victory lane in the IMCA STARS Mod Lites.

Bryan fought his way past Joel Huggins on lap eight of the 15-lap main event for the STARS Mod Lites, then held off the competition to score his first win at Marshalltown Speedway this year. Huggins was second after starting seventh. Austin Gray finished third.

Up next was the 20-lap Northern SportMod feature. Veteran Vern Jackson held down the top spot the first two laps but it was last week’s winner Olson taking over by lap four. He weathered four cautions but it was no issue as he pulled away each time and won going away at the checkers. Kaylin Lopez took second. Finishing third was Jenae Gustin.  

The Hobby Stocks put on quite a show for the fans in their 20-lap feature. Eric Stanton had the lead on lap one, John Watson nabbed it on lap two and then Stanton was right back in the lead a lap or so later.

At lap five, Knutson had thrown his hat into the ring and was pressuring Stanton. Then Seth Butler, who had started 12th, joined the fun. It was a tight battle up front, lap after lap, with Knutson keeping the upper hand and Butler making it a three-way battle. 

Stanton got to Knutson’s bumper, and knocked, knocked, knocked a few times, but Knutson held his ground and kept the lead. At the finish line, it was Knutson taking the win, Stanton held onto second and Butler was an ever-so-close third.

Stock Cars were next on the agenda for their 20-lap affair. It didn’t take long for Reynolds to be in command, taking his ride from sixth to the top spot by lap three. Flying through the field quickly as well was Dylan Thornton. He made his way from 10th to second with just a handful of laps in the books. Thornton threw a couple sliders at the leader in turn four, but Reynolds wasn’t fazed. 

In the closing laps, Reynolds pulled away and took the comfortable win. Thornton finished a distant second.  Steve Meyer was third.

The night’s racing action ended with the Modified 20-lap main. This one was led from start to finish by rookie to the class Dallon Murty. He had the field covered easily and won this one going away.  Jimmy Gustin got by Joel Rust in the closing laps as they finished second and third. respectively. 

Regular weekly racing continues Friday night, May 27, when it will be $500 on the line for the Northern SportMods and the Mod Lites will have one of their Corn Belt Clash events. The green flag drops at 7:30 p.m.

Gustin cashes in at Marshalltown with Arnold Motor Supply Dirt Knights win

By Joyce Eisele MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (June 4) – The driver who’s won the most Arnold Motor Supply Dirt Knights Tour features added to his total Tuesday evening at Marshalltown Speedway.  Richie Gustin topped the $2,000 to win main event for IMCA Modifieds, taking the lead on lap eight and pulling away from Jordan Grabouski to capture the opening night checkers.  Gustin was already on the ballot for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. The victory was his tour career ninth and third at Marshalltown. Tim Ward had led the stout field as the race went green, with Gustin tucking in behind to run in second.  Gustin took several peeks in the corners, tried an unsuccessful slide at lap seven, then managed the pass on the front stretch at lap eight to take command. Shute repeats, Schmidt gets first Marshalltown win of season

By Joyce Eisele MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (June 9, 2023) – Todd Shute came away with back-to-back wins in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds and Jay Schmidt got win number one of the season in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars Friday at Marshalltown Speedway. Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts kicked off feature racing with their 15-lap “A” main. Kolby Sabin led from the drop of the green to take his third win of the year.  He was chased most of the way by Terry Bickford who crossed the finish line in second.  However, Bickford was disqualified in the post-race inspection. This handed second spot over to Matt Miller, and Mitchell Bunch was third in a close one at the line. Fourth was Larry Werner and rounding out the top five was Chad Larson. IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks ran 20 laps for their feature event and it was Calvin Dhondt taking the checkers. Dhondt started ninth and ran down early leader Sam West. Shute, Olson take Topless wins at Marshalltown

By Joyce Eisele MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (June 2, 2023) – It was the Dirty 30 Topless Two-Fer presented by Capital Sign Company at the Marshalltown Speedway Friday night so Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds and Northern SportMods shed their tops for a night of racing topless. The Modified winner was Todd Shute while Kyle Olson went to victory lane in the SportMods.  The IMCA Modifieds presented by Tire Demon by Love Tap ran a 30 lapper. Johnathon Logue started on the pole and jumped to the immediate lead, as Joel Rust who had started on the outside front row, tucked in to run second.
