Spring special at I-70 Motorsports Park one for IMCA Modified, Stock Car record book

ODESSA, Mo. (March 28, 2022) – A spring special at I-70 Motorsports Park will be one for the record book as both IMCA Modifieds and IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars make first-ever appearances at the Show-Me State Oval April 1 and 2.

The motorsports park property, purchased by Chris Payne and Steve Bailey in 2016, features a high-banked clay oval 3/8’s of a mile around on the very bottom and more than half a mile around at the very top.

“Modified and Stock Car drivers are going to be the first IMCA drivers to race here. We’ve run a couple sprint car events here but that’s it. No Modifieds or Stock Cars have ever been at this track,” said Track Manager Tommie Estes. “It’s big and it’s wide – the narrowest part of the track is 83 feet and that’s on the front straightaway – and it’s got some bank to it. I think it’s a great track for IMCA cars.”

I-70 has seating for 9,000 fans, including 5,000 stadium seats plus six suites and party decks. Shuttles run from the parking lot to the front gate and a new infield scoreboard will be installed in time for the IMCA special.

“Fans like the whole atmosphere of how things are laid out here,” said Estes. “It’s a super-sized facility.”

Modifieds race for $1,500 to win, Stock Cars for a top $1,000 check on Friday. Modifieds chase a $2,500 top check and Stock Cars vie for $2,000 to win on Saturday and all features are qualifiers for Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational or B & B Racing Chassis All-Star Invitational eligibility. Any driver not racing on Friday can start no better than 11th in the main event on Saturday.

Ken Schrader will join the IMCA Modified field each night and IMCA.TV will broadcast both shows from I-70.

IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Jet Racing Central and EQ Cylinder Heads Northern regional, and KMJ Performance State points will be awarded both nights.

Drivers can enter at i70motorsportspark.com. Pit passes are $30 and pit gates open at 3 p.m., the front gate opens at 5 p.m. and racing follows 6:45 p.m. hot laps.

An open practice runs from 6-9 p.m. Thursday, March 31. Pit passes are $20 and grandstand admission is free.
