Beatrice, Thayer County shows next for Nebraska’s Dirt Crown

BEATRICE, Neb. (March 24, 2022) – Five IMCA divisions are on the Nebraska’s Dirt Crown Spring Tour card for Saturday, March 26.

IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks, IMCA Northern SportMods and Mach-1 Sport Compacts all vie for Dirt Crown honors. Pit Gates will open at 2 p.m. while the grandstands open at  5 p.m. Racing is at 6:30 p.m. 

A change to the Sunday program at Thayer County Speedway sees the addition of Hobby Stocks and Sport Compacts joining the scheduled Modifieds, Stock Cars and SportMods at Deshler. Racing will start at 4 p.m. with pit gates opening at 8 a.m. and grandstands at 2 p.m.

Modifieds race for $2,500 to win, Stock Cars and Northern SportMods for $2,000 to win. Modified winners become eligible to qualify for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational, Stock Car winners for the B & B Racing Chassis All-Star Invitational. 

IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing national, regional and KMJ Performance State points will be awarded both nights. 

Nightly entry fees remain unchanged with Modifieds $75, Stock Cars and SportMods $60 and Hobby Stocks and Sport Compacts $25.

Both events Thursday at US 30 Speedway and Friday at I-80 Speedway were lost to inclement weather. Drivers who pre-registered can get their checks back when they sign in at Beatrice or Deshler.

McBirnie rules Nebraska’s Dirt Crown in first IMCA Modified outing at Beatrice

BEATRICE, Neb. (March 26, 2022) – Jake McBirnie was the winner the first night he brought an IMCA Modified to Beatrice Speedway while Benji Legg was the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car winner on a night he hadn’t even planned to race. McBirnie topped the Saturday Nebraska’s Dirt Crown Spring Tour main event for the Modifieds, earning $2,500 and Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying eligibility for his start-to-finish run at the front of the 25-lapper. Legg’s $2,000 checkers made him eligible to qualify for the B & B Racing Chassis All-Star Invitational. His career third win in the class also came in his first start since rolling on night two of Beatrice’s Spring Nationals. Making his first start of 2022, McBirnie drew the inside row two start, moved to the pole when Clay Money couldn’t answer the call and promptly led the distance, outrunning 12-time and defending track champion Johnny Saathoff to the finish line in his first start of the season. “We had a pretty good car. Weather will be Nebraska Dirt Crown winner

COLUMBUS, Neb. – Inclement weather will be the winner of the Nebraska Dirt Crown. With too much chance of rain and not enough sun back in the forecast, March 25-28 tour dates at Abe’s US 30 Speedway in Columbus, I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Beatrice Speedway and Thayer County Speedway in Deshler have been canceled. Tour officials are looking at dates to reschedule Nebraska Dirt Crown events.

Sobbing wins twice, Borgman also best in Nebraska’s Dirt Crown show at Thayer Co.

DESHLER, Neb. (March 27, 2022) – A rare stop at Thayer County Speedway ended with Jesse Sobbing making two visits to victory lane, while frequent visitor Lance Borgman collected checkers of his own Sunday night.  Sobbing followed the $2,000 IMCA Sunoco Stock Car win with the $2,500 IMCA Modified victory in the Nebraska’s Dirt Crown Spring Tour show, earning both B & B Racing Chassis All-Star Invitational and Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying eligibility in the process. “I think we’ve raced there one time before. Deshler is a fun little track, not like anywhere else I’ve raced,” Sobbing said. “Obviously it’s great to win anywhere, any time. Thayer County is kind of Jordan’s (Grabouski) territory.
