MESQUITE, Texas (March 6, 2023) – Opportunity knocked and G.W. Egbert IV answered Monday night, in the third installment of the Sunoco Race Fuels Lone Star Tour presented by Sniper Speed. Egbert drove to the inside to pass Angel Munoz and race-long leader William Gould coming to the line on the 19th of 25 laps, then kept Munoz and Cody Smith at bay for the $2,000 IMCA Sunoco Stock Car checkers at Devil’s Bowl Speedway. “I was just waiting and sizing them up,” said Egbert, who had worked his way into contention from the ninth starting spot. “As long as I hit my marks, I knew I would be right there.” Gould and Munoz had run 1-2 through three early cautions. Egbert was in third for good by lap 15 and took advantage when an open lower line presented itself four laps later. MESQUITE, Texas – While Mother Nature had the upper hand, drivers following the Sniper Speed IMCA Lone Star Stock Car Tour still went home winners. Tour officials and promoters at Grayson County Speedway and Kennedale Speedway Park went above and beyond to make the last three scheduled events happen but rain and forecasts for continued inclement weather forced them to call the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car tour official. Night two winner Jason Rogers of Selden, Kan., was crowned champion, earning a $5,000 share of the $15,100 point fund, which was paid in its entirety. “I know Jon and Jill (Courchaine of Sniper Speed) did not have to pay the full point fund,” Rogers said during the Wednesday night banquet held at the Mesquite Convention Center. “The Lone Star Tour has helped strengthen the division in Texas and I wish we would have been able to race the tour until the end.” Rogers, who earned a starting berth in the B & B Racing Chassis All-Star Invitational at the upcoming IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s [Read More]
VINTON, Iowa – One of the worst storm systems the state of Texas has seen in a century has forced officials to cancel the Lone Star Stock Car Tour. Originally slated for Feb. 20-27, it will not be rescheduled in 2021. Significant snowfall throughout the state, power outages and lingering extreme cold temperatures for the region led to the cancellation. Drivers who pre-entered are asked to contact tour officials regarding refunds. “With over 70 IMCA Stock Car drivers pre-entered, the 2021 version of the Sniper Lone Star Tour was on pace to surpass 2020’s record setting year,” said IMCA President Brett Root. “The collective hard work by the race tracks involved with this annual IMCA Series in Texas, along with the effort of Jon and Jill Courchaine at Sniper Chassis has created a set of circumstances that are hard to accomplish and impossible to duplicate. Mother Nature was the only person who could spoil it.” The 2022 Lone Star Stock Car Tour will begin on February 19, 2022 on day two of Abilene Speedway’s 26th [Read More]
