Engine auction adds $29,000 to Super Nationals main event purse

BOONE, Iowa – A rich Saturday night of racing ended with the auction of champions’ engines adding another $29,000 to the main event purse paid at the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s.

Stock Car champion Dallon Murty’s engine sold for $7,500, so each of the other 29 starters in that event get another $258.62 in addition to their purse shares.

Modified champion Cody Laney’s engine also gaveled at $7,500. The other 32 starters in that race each receive $234.38.

Engines of Northern SportMod champion Austen Becerra and Hobby Stock champion Mike Smith both sold for $7,000. Each of the other 29 starters in those main events receives $241.38. 

Laney, Becerra and Smith all received new crate engines from Karl Kustoms.

Murty received an engine built by Midstate Machine with parts contributed by IMCA and event sponsors including Speedway Motors, Comp Cams, Edelbrock, Manley, Motorsports Warehouse, Summit, Engine Parts Warehouse, EQ Cylinder Heads and Kevko. 

All auction proceeds have been mailed from the IMCA home office.

Frostbuster bonus wins to Ward, Jerovetz and Carter

By Joyce Eisele BOONE, Iowa (April 8, 2023) – Saturday night became bonus night for three drivers as Boone Speedway kicked off its 2023 racing season with a Frostbuster special that saw 166 racing machines checked into the pits. Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods kicked off the feature racing with the running of their 20-lap main event. Brayton Carter started second on the lineup grid and immediately grabbed the lead. Carter had the field covered as he would go on to lead all laps on his way to victory. Taylor Kuehl, last year’s Frostbuster winner, was runner-up ahead of Cam Reimers, Adam Armstrong and Braden Richards. Carter had won the first night of the Frostbuster on Friday at Marshalltown and earned the double bonus payout of $1,000 for Saturday’s win. A win for the Super Nationals record book as Thornton ends week with Modified crown

BOONE, Iowa (Sept. 13) – Ricky Thornton Jr.’s race to the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s record book began on Monday and ended Sunday, with another visit to victory lane in between. Thornton became the first driver in the 38-year history of dirt track racing’s biggest event to win two championships at the same Super Nationals, the Late Model feature on Labor Day and the Modified feature on Sunday at Boone Speedway.  He passed Cody Laney in lapped traffic on the 24th of 40 laps, then checked out on the way to the $7,000 win in the final event of the week. “This track really suits my driving style and we’ve been very successful here. Entries still accepted for Super Nationals, Prelude open to all registered drivers at Boone Sept. 1

BOONE, Iowa – Entries are still being accepted for the six divisions competing at the Sept. 3-8 IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. Modified, Stock Car, Northern SportMod, Hobby Stock, Late Model and Sport Compact competitors can go to the IMCA or Boone Speedway websites to enter. All Modified, Stock Car, Northern SportMod and Hobby Stock drivers in attendance at Boone Speedway on Saturday, Sept. 1 can compete in that evening’s Prelude.
