IMCA Modifieds, Northern SportMods join Weekend Bash card at Davenport

DAVENPORT, Iowa – Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods vie in a $2,000 to win main event on Friday, June 8 at Davenport Speedway. The IMCA SportMod Challenge will use a draw/redraw format and IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National and Iowa State points will be awarded for the draw/redraw show. Pit gates open at 4:30 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5 p.m. Hot laps are at 5:45 p.m. with racing to follow. Spectator admission is $15 for adults, $13 for seniors and students, and free for kids ages 12 and under. Pit passes are $30. The main event pays a minimum of $100 to start. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Side Biter Chassis North Central Region and Iowa State points, but no track points will be awarded. By Mike McGuire  DAVENPORT, Iowa (April 23, 2021) – Friday was Koehler Electric Season Opener at the Davenport Speed­way. With extra money on the line in two divisions, the competition was intense. The IMCA Sunoco Late Models provided the closest finish of the evening. Their 25-lap feature started with Andy Nezworski grabbing the early lead from the pole. Nezworski built up a lead until the caution flags started to fly on lap eight. Chuck Hanna used the race’s final restart to propel himself up to second and then used the high side to reel in Nezworski. As the leaders encountered lapped traffic, Hanna drew alongside the leader. At the checkers, it was Nezworski by mere inches over Hanna. Justin Kay fended off Matt Ryan for a third place finish. Fred Remley was a distant fifth. Spencer Diercks led flag-to-flag in the IMCA Modified main. Diercks started on the outside pole and went directly to the top of the racetrack.
