IMCA Modifieds, Stock Cars run on opening night at Buchanan County Fair

INDEPENDENCE, Iowa – The first night of the Buchanan County Fair brings IMCA Modifieds and IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars to Independence Motor Speedway on Tuesday, July 6.

Modifieds race for $1,000 to win and a Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot berth; Stock Cars run for a $750 top check, with the winner becoming eligible to qualify for the B & B Chassis All-Star race.

IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Side Biter Chassis North Central Region and EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region, and KMJ Performance State points will be awarded.

Entry fee for both divisions is $20. Pit passes are $30.

Gates open at 5 p.m. with hot laps at 6:30 p.m. and racing at 7 p.m. Spectator admission is $20 for adults, $15 for veterans and teens, $10 for kids ages 7-12 and free for ages six and under.

The evening’s Denny Osborn Memorial Late Model event honors the 1989 IMCA national champion, who passed away May 24, and is presented by Travis Smock and Peoples Company.
