Wilson gets confidence booster with Greenville Mod Lites of Arkansas win

GREENVILLE, Miss. (May 22) – Blake Wilson was fast from the opening lap and never looked back as he led every lap en route to his first Mod Lites of Arkansas feature win of 2021 at Greenville Speedway presented by Elite Glass.

Wilson, from Mabelvale, Ark., started on the outside of the front row along with pole sitter James Rollins and work the high groove for the duration of the 20-lap IMCA STARS Mod Lite feature. 

While Wilson was out front, Rollins was challenged late by Bryce Vowan until an engine failure knocked Vowan back to fourth coming to the checkered flag.

Rollins went on to record his best Mod Lites of Arkansas finish of second. Chris Tucker was second, Vowan and Chad Kirkpatrick rounded out the top five.

“We’ve never won a national event before so it really boosted our confidence to carry over to the rest of the season,” Wilson said following the much-needed win. “It wouldn’t have been possible without the guys in the shop, they gave me a great car. “

The Mod Lites of Arkansas will be back in action June 5 at Riverside Speedway in West Memphis Ark., for the fourth annual Mini Mod Challenge.

Saturday date for Mod Lites of Arkansas at Old No. 1

HARRISBURG, Ark. – Mod Lites of Arkansas race for $500 to win and a minimum of $100 to start this Saturday, July 17 at Old No. 1 Speedway in Harrisburg.  Gates open at 4 p.m. with pre-tech for the IMCA STARS Mod Lite entries to follow. Racing is at 7:30 p.m.

Raffurty joins Mod Lites of Arkansas for second win of weekend in second state

HARRISBURG, Ark. (June 19) – Dillon Raffurty of Kansas City, Mo., continued his winning streak in IMCA STARS Mod Lite competition as he topped the 34-car field at Old No. 1 Speedway in Harrisburg Saturday night. Raffurty took the point from early leader Blake Wilson and never looked back in the 25-lap Mod Lites of Arkansas feature, which saw only one caution. He was rewarded with $500 for his efforts after winning the previous night at Marshalltown Speedway in Iowa. Wilson went on to finish second, Bryce Vowan was third, while Gage Raines and Robert Caleb McCollett rounded out the top five. Jeromy Wilson was the hard charger as he passed nine cars on his way to an 11th place finish after recovering from an early night flip in heat race action. The Mod Lites of Arkansas will return to action on July 10 at I-30 Speedway for a regular night of racing.

Mod Lites of Arkansas racing for $2,000 at inaugural Mid-South Nationals

WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. (Sept. 13, 2022) – Mod Lites of Arkansas return to Riverside International Speedway this Saturday, Sept. 7 for the inaugural $2,000 to win Mid-South Nationals. The IMCA STARS Mod Lites headline the evening program and the winner goes home with a specialty – and functional – Fender acoustic guitar trophy. The main event pays $200 to start with non-qualifiers getting $50.  IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, state and MLA points will be awarded. Drivers finishing seventh and 11th receive prize packages from Mid-State Racing and Tire Bloomers, respectively. Entry fee is $75 and pit passes are $35. Gates will open at 6  Hot laps are at 6:30 p.m. with racing at 7:30 p.m. Spectator admission is $20 for adults, $5 for kids and free for five and under.
