DODGE CITY, Kan. (Aug. 15) – Monty Nordyke scored his first Dodge City Raceway Park win in the Prelude to the IMCA SportMod Mayhem while Dakota Sproul continued his recent run of IMCA Modified supremacy by racing to his third consecutive DCRP triumph Saturday night.

In the 20-lap Prelude to next weekend’s SportMod Mayhem, Nordyke capitalized on Luke Stallbaumer’s mechanical woes and then held off son Brendyn over the closing rounds for his first DCRP score.

Nordyke became the race’s fourth different leader when he battled past Bart Baker on a lap 14 restart that followed a caution for Stallbaumer’s disabled mount on the backstretch. After Dan Rogers led the opening round, Stallbaumer had battled past Baker for the point on the eighth cir­cuit only to suffer race-ending driveline issues seven laps shy of the checkered flag. 

With Monty Nordyke taking command, Brendyn Nordyke tried to steal his thunder only to fall two car-lengths short at the stripe with Baker, Mike Lunow and Rogers rounding out the top five.

In the 20-lap IMCA Modified main event, Sproul rallied from the ninth starting position to take the lead away from Nick Link on the eighth lap en route to a straightaway triumph over Clay Sellard, who worked past Link in the closing rounds for runner-up honors.

A runner-up finisher on three occasions already this season, Chris Oliver broke into victory lane for the first time of the DCRP season by topping the 15-lap IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature. 

Duane Wahrman added his second IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock win of the season by racing to the checkered flag in the 15-lap main event.

Roach is first SportMod Mayhem repeat winner

(Aug. 18) – Mike Roach became the first repeat winner of Dodge City Race­way Park’s $1,000-to-win IMCA SportMod Mayhem event by racing to victory lane in Saturday night’s fifth annual event. Roach topped the 25-lapper from sixth starting after initially topping the event in 2015. He needed just four laps to race into second and then took the lead away from Jeff Kaup on the eighth circuit. Roach led the rest of the way to post his second consecutive victory at Dodge City with Brandon Kenney in tow after taking the second position from Kaup on the ninth lap. After topping last year’s SportMod Mayhem main, Dustin Daniels fell two positions short of going back-to-back by filling out the podium in third with Kaup and Blaine Walt rounding out the top five. Fast start sends Williams to opening night URSS victory

DODGE CITY, Kan. (April 24) – The Drive to Zero POWRi United Rebel Sprint Series Presented by Mel Hambelton Ford Racing kicked off its season atop the 3/8-mile semi-banked clay oval of Dodge City Raceway Park on Saturday. Twenty-one cars were in action for the season opener as Ty Williams claimed the victory. Williams and Connor Atkinson set the early pace for the 30-lap IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car main event with some heat from Jeremy Huish and Luke Cranston. On lap three, Huish got past Atkinson and lap four saw Cranston passing Atkinson and Huish to take second.   Williams, Cranston, and Huish remained in the top three while defending URSS champion, Zach Blurton made his march forward from the 10th place starting position. Cranston pull several slide jobs on Williams only to have Williams cross under and continue to lead. Trouble for Cranston ensued on lap 13, ending his run for the evening. A restart saw Williams, Huish, Blurton, Atkinson, and Herbert sitting within the top five. Championship Night is Saturday at Dodge City Raceway Park

By Lonnie Wheatley DODGE CITY, Kan. – It all comes down to Saturday night at Dodge City Raceway Park. A full season of racing action atop the 3/8-mile clay oval in southwest Kansas culminates with the sixth annual Jerry Soderberg Memorial Championship event on Sept. 15. Saturday’s card that goes green at 7 p.m. marks the final round of championship chase action for each of the track’s five divisions including the Precise Racing Products DCRP Sprint Cars, IMCA Modifieds, IMCA SportMods, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks.  The Sprint Car portion of the program will pit the DCRP Sprint Cars versus the United Rebel Sprint Series (URSS). Soderberg was very instrumental in helping form the URSS in its beginning 13 years ago and this Memorial event in his honor is always a popular race for the traveling series.
