LEXINGTON, Neb. (Aug. 2) – Hitting the dirt running was an understatement when describing the outstanding show seen by the jam-packed house of avid racing fans at Dawson County Raceway Sunday evening. 

Getting their season started off on the right foot by punching their ticket to the Chesterman’s Coca-Cola Winners Circle were the quintet of Dakota Sproul, Robbie Thome, Mike Nichols, Zach Olmstead and Rileigh Flohrs. 

Showing his cards early paid off for Sproul as he scored the IMCA Modified victory. Sproul started the on the inside of the second row, made the move into the lead on the fourth lap and never looked back.

Leading the laps that mattered the most, Thome was the victor in the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod feature. Thome got to third early on and was up to second when leader Brett Berry slowed and relinquished the lead. Thome led the final laps to claim the victory. 

No stranger to the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car winner’s circle, Nichols was able to drive where the leaders weren’t for much of the first half of the feature before he took the lead by passing Bo Egge on the ninth lap and never looked back.

Coming from deep in the field, fifth row starter Olmstead of Overton was able to finish his rollercoaster weekend by winning the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock feature. Olmstead got to the front on lap seven.

Putting on a dominating performance was Flohrs, the green to checkered leader in the Mach-1 Sport Compact feature.

Former track champion Dolan takes promoter’s post at Dawson County

LEXINGTON, Neb. – Back when he was winning IMCA track championships at Dawson County Raceway, Chad Dolan didn’t give a thought to promoting. Now that he’s in charge of the 3/8-mile dirt oval at Lexington, he’s looking for ways to give fans and drivers their money’s worth and then some.  “My vision is to give people the wow factor. Tough Clough tops Dawson County Modifieds

By Kelly Ninas LEXINGTON, Neb. (June 10) – Running away and hiding from the field in the Sunday IMCA Modified feature at Dawson County Raceway was Brandon Clough. Clough started on the outside of the front row and wasted no time in rolling to a big lead and convincing victory. Coming from the rear of the field was runner-up Cale Osborn while Jay Steffens took third. Mike Nichols was the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car winner, Luke Wassom topped the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Jacob Olmstead collected the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod checkers.

Five are Back to School Night IMCA winners at Dawson County

(Aug. 16) – Five IMCA feature winners taught their competition a thing or two on Back to School Night at Dawson County Raceway.  Anthony Roth wasted no time in running away and hiding from the rest of the field in an IMCA Modified feature that ran caution-free. Young gun Jacob Olmstead took advantage of a second lap opportunity to leap into the lead and never looked back in cruising to the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod victory.  After starting in the fifth row, Mike Nichols was first to the finish line in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature. Bo Egge was second while Casey Woken took third after starting 22nd.  Leading the final five laps, Zach Olmstead also raced from row five and captured another IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock win.
