BOONE, Iowa (July 25) – Johnathon Logue made it a perfect night Saturday, following his Haw­keye Challenge victory with the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod checkers at Boone Speedway. 

Logue had topped the Hawkeye Challenge, which featured cars from each weekly division run­ning a specified number (20-25) number of laps.

With that $1,000 win already in hand, Logue drove from the 11th starting spot to catch leader Hunter Longnecker in the Northern SportMod main.  The two ran side-by-side for several laps until Logue made the pass for the lead on lap 11. 

He kept the top spot the remainder of the way to the checkers and the win, his third at Boone this season.  Longnecker kept the runner-up spot and Dustin Lynch was third.

Tim Ward collected his first local IMCA Modified feature win of the season while Jay Schmidt pre­vailed in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature for the second time. 

Mike Smith also raced to his second Boone Speedway checkers of 2020 in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock main.

Opening night set this Saturday at Boone Speedway

BOONE, Iowa – Iowa’s Action Track opens this Saturday with four IMCA divisions on the race night card. IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Karl Kustoms North­ern SportMods chase IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly racing National, regional and state, but no track points when the green flag flies at Boone Speedway on May 16. Working with IMCA and following CDC social distancing guidelines permitted by the State of Iowa, Boone Speedway will be able to race with only pit-side attendees. Each participating race car will be allowed a total of 10 members, come and join your favorite driver in the pits. Fans will also be able to watch the race live via pay-per-view on the all-new IMCA.TV.   Registration for the draw/redraw is required and can be done through the MyRacePass link on the track raceboone.com website.  Updates on specific guidelines and procedures will be posted on social media and the website.  Pit gates open at 1 p.m., hot laps are at 4 p.m. and racing starts at 5 p.m. Saturday.

Boone’s Cinco de Mayo pays IMCA Modified winner $1,000

BOONE, Iowa – Boone Speedway celebrates Cinco de Mayo on Saturday, May 5 with more money on the line for IMCA Modified drivers. Five hundred dollars goes to the winners of qualifiers that determine starting positions on inside and outside of the main event; the feature winner earns $1,000, a berth on the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational and a provisional start in the September Prelude to the Super Nationals. A $500 bonus will also be paid to the fifth place starter if they can win that race. Also on the card are IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods. The Hobby Stock feature pays $500 to the winner. There is no entry fee. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, regional, Iowa State and track points will be awarded. Smith tops Hawkeye Challenge, Mills, Lopez and May see checkers before Mother Nature wins at Boone

June 10, 2023 By Joyce Eisele BOONE, Iowa (June 10, 2023) – Boone Speedway held its Hawkeye Challenge, one of the most unique races in the country, pitting six different classes of cars all racing at one time Saturday night. The overall winner was Mike Smith in his IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock. The Hawkeye Challenge was run before features and 21 cars were scheduled to start, qualified through track points and through heat racing earlier in the evening. Classes were staggered by lap count, with the lone Sprint Car of Mike Houseman needing to complete 25 laps, the Modifieds 23 laps, SportMods and Mod Lites 22 laps, Stock Cars 21 laps, and the Hobby Stocks 20 laps. When the dust cleared in the race that went non-stop, it was Smith in his Hobby Stock taking pocketing the $1,000 top prize. Other class winners were Josh May in the Mod Lites, Johnathon Logue in the Stock Cars, Jeremy Mills in the Modifieds, Kaylin Lopez in Northern SportMods, and Houseman in the Sprint Car.
