Mike Mullen masters IMCA Modified main at Outagamie

SEYMOUR, Wis. (July 17) – Shawn Freilich jumped to the point of the IMCA Modified feature Fri­day at Outagamie Speedway. His reign up front didn’t last long as ‘Mighty’ Mike Mullen blasted to lead on lap four.

Benji LaCrosse came to call midway through the contest as he worked into the runner-up posi­tion. LaCrosse closed in late but it was Mullen scoring the win. LaCrosse had to settle for second place pay, Josh Long took third, Marcus Yarie was fourth and Jerry Wilinski completed the top five. The contest went green to checkers.

In Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod action, drama unfolded early as point leader Vince Engebregsten didn’t make the call for the starting lineup.

Zachary Raab took the lead on lap four and never looked back, cruising to a dominating win. The win was Raab’s first-ever at the speedway. Cole Magnin, Tyler Sobiesczyk, Matt Radtke and Jeff Schmuhl rounded out the top five.

Clint Malueg was victorious in the Mach-1 Sport Compacts.

Hansen begins title defense with Outagamie checkers

By Edward Anschutz SEYMOUR, Wis. (May 20) – One hundred and twenty-nine cars checked in to do battle for the first point night of the season Sunday at Outagamie Speedway. Defending champion Travis Hansen dominated the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod feature, leading every lap en route to the victory. Lucas Lamberies was second and Robby Thiel placed third. Josh Long paced the IMCA Modified field until Mike Mullen took the top spot away on lap eight. Long’s hope to regain the lead went up in smoke as his car broke and coasted to the infield. Mul­len pulled away, capturing the win with a clean sweep of the night. Benji LaCrosse had to settle for second while Brian Mullen was third. Eric Arneson led the caution-slowed IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature until Mike Coel slipped by down low on lap 10 to secure the top spot. Frederick is red hot at Outagamie Speedway  

By Edward Anschutz SEYMOUR, Wis. (Aug. 4, 2023) – Kyle Frederick was on fire during Saturday’s IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature at Outagamie Speedway, both literally and figuratively. Frederick raced around Larry Karcz on the fifth circuit and into the lead. As the race progressed, Frederick’s advantage began to shrink as Karcz and Brandon Czarapata chased. It became apparent why Frederick’s lead began to fade as his left rear brake rotor began to glow bright orange. Signifying a stuck brake. Frederick’s machine held on just long enough to take the checkers. Once he pulled in the tech area, the left rear burst into flames. Track officials quicky put out the fire. Czarapata was able to sneak by on the last lap to take second, Karcz had his best run of the year to place third and after starting 21st, Rod Snellenberger completed the top four.   Rookie Jeff Schmuhl grabbed the lead on lap three of the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified main and never looked back, cruising to his first win of the season. Parker, Van Ooyen, Miller motor to wins at Outagamie

By Edward Anschutz  SEYMOUR, Wis. (July 5) – First-time 2019 winners were the story Friday at Outagamie Speed­way.  Adam Reed took the lead away from Chase Parker early in the IMCA Modified feature. Parker moved to the top groove, retaking the front spot on lap five. Parker continued to lead as Wyatt Block Jr.  and newcomer Cody Schroeder gave pursuit.   Parker was up for the challenge, holding off all challengers to score his first win of the season. Block was second while Schroeder took third in only his third night in the class.    In IMCA Sunoco Stock Car action, it was Mike Schmidt leading the first half of the feature. That’s when Chas Van Ooyen found traction up top, racing around Schmidt for the lead with six laps remaining.   Josh Mroczkowski hounded Van Ooyen all the way to the checkers.
