Hibdon wins second straight at Benton County

VINTON, Iowa (July 12) – Fisher Towing & Recovery of Garrison sponsored the mid-season champion­ships at Benton County Speedway on Sunday night on a near perfect weather night for racing. The Bullring provided everything the race fan could ask for.

The IMCA Modifieds saw Kollin Hibdon charge to the front from his third row start and take com­mand. Hibdon scored the win over one of the hottest drivers in the Midwest in Tom Berry Jr. Berry advanced from the eighth starting position but could not catch the strong running Hibdon in settling for second.  

Twenty-seven Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod drivers signed in and the feature saw plenty of action. Tony Olson quickly worked to the front from his fourth row start and set up a battle with his cousin Kyle Olson. The two Olsons dominated the main before Kyle jumped the turn one cush­ion late in the race and fell back to a fourth place finish. Tony Olson took the win over Dylan VanWyk and Joe Docekal. 

The IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars have become a family feud at The Bullring and on Sunday it was young Dallon Murty chasing down his dad Damon and moving into the lead late in the main and going on to record the win. Shawn Ritter fought through the field and took third.

Nathan Ballard was not to be denied in taking the win in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks. Bal­lard raced the entire main event riding the very treacherous high side. Ballard took the win ahead of Brett Vanous and Jake Benischek. 

Sunday, July 19 will see another action packed night of racing at The Bullring. Hot laps will get underway at 6 p.m. with racing to follow at the Benton County Speedway.

The Bullring is back in action May 15

VINTON, Iowa (May 10, 2022) – Increased purse money will be up for grabs Sunday, May 15 at Benton County Speedway. Billed as the Dirt Knights TV Special, five weekly divisions will compete on the quarter-mile Bullring for the second night of weekly points racing. A winner’s share of $750 will be on the line in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds presented by KISS Country 96.5, while winners of the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods presented by Christie Door Company will pocket $500 each. IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks will pay $300 to win and Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts vie for $200 to win. The pit gate and grandstand will open at 4 p.m. May 15, with hot laps scheduled for 5:30 and racing at 6. Adult admission is $13, seniors and veterans $11, and ages 6-14 $5. Bigger payouts, good cause at Benton County Speedway’s Urbana 5 special

VINTON, Iowa – Drivers in five IMCA divisions hit the track for bigger payouts and a good cause at Benton County Speedway’s Sunday, July 11 Urbana 5 program. IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods all race for $1,000 to win, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks for $400 and Mach-1 Sport Compacts for $250. Features for the Modifieds and Stock Cars are qualifiers for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational and B & B Chassis All-Star Invitational, respectively. Additional money from sponsors, local businesses and donations will be paid throughout each field, with three luck of the draws paying $50 to random finishers in each feature. The Urbana 5 special is held to remember the five area youth killed in a 2015 traffic accident near Urbana, and to encourage people to become organ and tissue donors. Benton County Frostbuster rescheduled to Sunday, Stuart opens tonight

VINTON, Iowa – Wednesday’s scheduled IMCA Frostbuster at Benton County Speedway has been rescheduled to Sunday, April 4.  Track officials made that announcement after determining they could not get the dirt oval at Vinton race-ready for the number of cars expected to compete on the original date.  Along with IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods, Mach-1 Sport Compacts will be on the Sunday card.  Racing starts at 5 p.m. and there will be Easter eggs for the kids. More information about the Benton County Frostbuster is to be announced. Frostbuster Week starts tonight (Tuesday) at Stuart Speedway.
