HAYS, Kan. (June 13-14) – Jed Werner and Koby Walters ran the string of Mel Hambelton Ford Racing POWERi United Rebel Sprint Series winners to four in as many events, when the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car series joined the Mike Hughes Memorial Sunflower Classic slate at RPM Speedway.

Werner got a run on race-long leader Shane Sundquist down the backstretch with just three laps to go to claim the opening night event on Saturday. Walters took the lead just before midway and never looked back to claim Sunday honors.

Only two car lengths separated the front pair with five laps to go on Saturday. Lap 23 saw Werner get a run on the top side coming out of turn two and storm past Sundquist down the back stretch to take the lead.

He would go untouched the rest of the way to claim his first series victory since June 12 of 2016. Jeremy Huish got past Sundquist on the last lap for second.

On Sunday, Walters made his move for the lead on lap 11 when he drove low entering turns one and two and drove underneath the top-running Kyler Johnson.

Lapped traffic didn’t deter Walters from picking up his first URSS feature win of the season. John­son settled for second while Ray Seeman was third.

Next up for the Rebels will be a two-night show at two different tracks. It all kicks off on Saturday night, June 27, at Thomas County Speedway in Colby, before a special Sunday night edition of IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car action at WaKeeney Speedway.

United Rebel Sprint Series hosts Missouri doubleheader

OSBORN, Mo. – The POWRi Drive to Zero United Rebel Sprint Series Presented by Mel Hambelton Ford Racing has two Missouri events on the schedule Friday, July 23 and Saturday, July 24.  Both races will pay $1,000 to win with $200 to start the “A” features. On Friday, July 23, competition will take place atop the 3/8-mile high banked resurfaced facility of US 36 Raceway in Osborn. The enhancements on the track have given fans and drivers excitement, with close, action-packed racing. IMCA RaceSavers chase big payday at Dodge City Sprint Car Nationals

DODGE CITY, Kan. (Feb. 27, 2024) – IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars get top billing and race for a lot of dollar bills at Dodge City Raceway Park’s April 5-6 Sprint Car Nationals. The opening weekend event for the United Rebel Sprint Series sees the winged warriors race in qualifying heats and features on Friday. Last-chance races and a king of the hill pole shuffle for the top eight qualified cars precede the $5,000 to win, minimum $400 to win main event on Saturday. Also on opening night, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods race for $500 to win and Mach-1 Sport Compacts for $250 to win. Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds chase a $1,000 payday and Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying eligibility on Saturday. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars run for $500 to win that evening. Richardson is best in URSS opener at Bullring Nationals

LaCROSSE, Kan. (July 25) – The POWRi United Rebel Sprint Series Presented by Mel Hambelton Ford Racing took to the Bullring at Rush County Speedway and Steven Richardson maneuvered a last lap pass to claim the night one Bullring Nationals feature win.  Zach Blurton and Jordan Knight set the pace for the 25-lap feature event for the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars. Blurton took off with the early lead. Koby Walters and Jordan Knight fell in behind the race leader. Blurton finessed lapped traffic on lap seven, separating some distance between himself and the runner-up.   A late race caution saw the field bunched back up. Some confusion on the restart called for mass chaos for front-runners Blurton and Walters. Both took off for the restart but the waving of the green had not yet occurred.
