ALGONA, Iowa (May 28) – Jason Briese led a fast field of IMCA Modifieds to the flag stand and all the way to the checkered flag Thursday night at Kossuth County Speedway.
Briese built a comfortable advantage early as there was a four-car battle for second between Nick Meyer, Jeremy Mills, Brandon Beckendorf and Kelly Shryock. Austin Wolf joined that group to create a six-car breakaway through the first half of the race.
Mills took over the runner-up spot at the half way mark of the feature as it was a three-car breakaway by then with Briese, Mills and Shryock.
Briese continued to hold the top spot and the only delay to his appearance in the winner’s circle was a yellow flag on nine as the Cleghorn driver gladly took the double checkered flags from flagman Logan Kelly first. Shryock came home in the second position with Wolf third.
Shryock took the lead at midway en route to the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car victory and Coy Nielsen parlayed a slick move on an early restart into the IMCA Hobby Stock win.
George Nordman was not to be denied in the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod main while Kaytee Devries dominated in the Mach-1 Sport Compact feature for the second consecutive week.
