MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (June 7) – Travis Storjohann put his no. 12R machine across the finish line first in scoring the victory in the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod 18-lap event Friday at Mar­shalltown Speedway.  He finished just ahead of eighth starting Jake McBirnie.

Joel Rust set his hot rod on the top of the track and sailed to the win in the IMCA Modified 20-lap­per.  Tim Ward finished in the runner up spot, Cody Laney was a hard charger, coming from the 17th starting spot, to finish in third.

Ethan Braaksma made his debut in the division, moving up from the SportMods, and took fourth after starting 12th. Randy Havlik charged through the field from starting 18th and was fifth. 

Rust came from ninth to score his third victory of the year.

The 20-lap IMCA Late Model contest went to Jeff Aikey.  Aikey, piloting the car of Rick Dralle, took the lead from Todd Cooney on lap three, and never gave it up.

Shawn Ritter led the 18-lap IMCA Stock Car main event from flag to flag in a race that went cau­tion free.  Ritter grabbed the lead immediately from his outside front row starting spot and was never seriously threatened on his way the checkered flag. 

The 15-lap IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock feature saw a familiar face back in victory lane as Shan­non Anderson ran down early leader Leah Wroten and never relinquished the top spot.

Rust, Reynolds among Marshalltown winners

By Joyce Eisele MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (July 10) – Joel Rust was the $1,000 IMCA Modified winner Friday at Marshalltown Speedway.  Tim Ward wasted no time in getting to the front from his second row starting position, sweeping to the lead by lap three after going topside. Ward continued his run at the front of the pack and stretched his lead. However, a caution at lap 10 tightened the field and by this time the 12th starting Rust had made his way into second.  When the race restarted, it was a close fought battle between the two until Rust, the defending Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational winner, took command at lap 15.  From there on it was Rust out in front the rest of the way to the checkers and the win. Ward had to be content with the runner-up spot. Tom Berry Jr. came from 17th to finish third, fourth was Kollin Hibdon and Ethan Braaksma hard-charged from starting 22nd to complete the top five.  Brayton Carter won going away in the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod feature. Ward and Lopez find victory lane at Marshalltown

By Joyce Eisele  MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (Aug. 19, 2022) – There was a threat of rain and ominous clouds all around but Marshalltown Speedway avoided the shenanigans and racing went on as usual on Friday night. Karl Kustoms Night at the Races saw Tim Ward win for the first time this year in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds. Steve Meyer made it win number two on the year when he saw the checkers first in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars. Kaylin Lopez finally put it in victory lane when he won the Friesen Performance  IMCA Northern SportMod feature.  Bradly Graham chalked up his second win of the season in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Randy Bryan won his fifth feature in the IMCA STARS Mod Lites. The feature racing kicked off with 15 laps of Mod Lite racing and when all was said and done, it was Bryan getting the win. Marshalltown postpones World Nationals

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa – Rain Wednesday plus rain Thursday equals no racing this weekend in Marshalltown.  The $10,000 to win World Nationals special for IMCA Modifieds has been postponed, due to wet grounds and the resulting lack of time to get the track ready, to Oct. 24-26. The 13th annual event is a qualifying feature for the 2020 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Karl Kustoms North­ern SportMods both race for $1,000 to win, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks for $500 to win during Friday and Sat­urday, Oct. 25 and 26 programs. Pit gates open at 4 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5 p.m. Racing starts at 7 p.m. both nights.  Friday spectator admission is $15 for adults and $12 for seniors. On Saturday, admission is $20 for adults and $15 for seniors. Kids 10 and under get in free and pit passes are $30 both days.
