PLEASANTON, Texas (May 18) – After earning his first-ever IMCA Modified feature win early last month, Chris Morris returned to the scene and picked up I-37 Speedway win number two, his third of the sea­son, Saturday night. 

Morris was able to move up quickly and get early leaders Landon Bednarz and Jamie Campbell then motor away for the win. 

Morris went around Bednarz on the high side then ducked under Campbell to snag the top spot on lap four. After a late caution, he pulled away as Rick Green and P.J. Egbert ran side-by-side second. This left Morris uncontested at the checkers while Green edged out Egbert for second. 

“I knew it was going to be tough,” said Morris. “There’s quite a few good guys here. I feel like I had to work a little more for that one than the first one. It makes it all that much sweeter.” 

“Seeing P.J. (Egbert) roll in puts a little pressure on. We ran against him at Heart O’ Texas (in Waco) last night and he beat us,” Morris continued. “He just got in a Lethal car, too, and I know how good these cars are. I knew he’d be good competition and I have fun racing with him.”

IMCA Modifieds chase $1,000 check at I-37 opener

PLEASANTON, Texas (March 22, 2023) – Saturday’s season opener at I-37 Speedway sees Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds racing for $1,000 to win along with qualifying eligibility for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational.  Pit gates and the grandstand both open at 4 p.m. for the March 25 lidlifter. Hot laps are at 6:30 p.m. with racing to follow.  IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, GRT Race Cars South Central Region, Texas State and track points will be awarded.  Pit passes are $30. Spectator admission is $16 for adults, $11 for seniors, military and First Responders, and $6 for kids, with five and under free. Friday’s practice session at Pleasanton runs from 6-9:30 p.m. Pit passes are 420.

I-37 starts new season Saturday with Fast Shafts All-Star ballot qualifier

PLEASANTON, Texas – More than opening night bragging rights are at stake for IMCA Modifieds this Saturday at I-37 Speedway.  The March 7 main event pays $1,000 to win, with a Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot berth as well as IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Razor Chassis South Central Region, E3 Spark Plugs State and track points at stake.  Pit gates and the grandstand open at 4 p.m. The drivers’ meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. with hot laps and racing to follow. Spectator admission is $13 for adults, $9 for seniors and military personnel with ID, $6 for kids ages six to 12 and free for ages five and under.  Pit passes are $30, car and driver is $50. Local sponsor for the Modified division is Simpson Safety Equipment.

I-37 fans salute first-time IMCA Modified winner Torres

While many tracks celebrated the Fourth of July during the previous week, I-37 Speedway celebrated the next weekend, hosting its Military Appreciation Night with free admission to active and retired military, discounts for the rest of their families and loads of service members from the San Antonio bases. Last year the cannon was a big hit. #herecomestheboom At the start of the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified 20-lap feature it was Greg Dinsmore getting a good launch to get the lead followed by Ryan Doyon, Rick Green, Johnny Torres and Chris Carroll. Doyon quickly began looking on Greg Dinsmore getting the top spot on lap two with Johnny Torres getting third from Green. Logan Dinsmore made his way past Carroll for fifth. Darrell Boyd had his first of two spins for a lap four caution. Once back to green, Torres worked past Greg Dinsmore for second while Logan Dinsmore took fourth from Green.
