DODGE CITY, Kan. – The Dodge City Raceway Park Sprint Car Nationals is expanding from two to three nights in 2019.  And with the June event rapidly approaching, entries are now being accepted for the upcoming third annual Lubbock Wrecker Service-sponsored event. 

The $3,000-to-win IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car event that could potentially climb to as much as $4,500 with lap money included is set for June 13-15 atop the 3/8-mile clay oval in southwest Kansas. The rapidly-evolving event includes the Precise Racing Products DCRP Sprint Cars along with the United Rebel Sprint Series and Sprint Series of Oklahoma.

Entries submitted prior to June 6 are $50 with driver’s pit pass $20 for each night.  Entries submitted after June 6 are $75 with driver pit pass the standard $30 per night.

After Fort Worth, Texas driver Kevin Ramey topped the inaugural version of the DCRP 305 Sprint Car Nationals in 2017, Fairview, Okla.’s Jake Martens pocketed $4,040 including lap money by fending off a last-lap slider from Jake Bubak and then beating Chad Koch to the stripe in last year’s hair-raising finale.

This year’s event fires off with the first of two preliminary events on Thursday, June 13, with a second round of preliminary action on Friday before culminating with Saturday’s championship finale.

Joining in on Thursday action will be the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks with IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars on the card for Friday and then IMCA SportMods on Saturday. 

Each night of racing will fire off at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets to the Thursday and Friday preliminary events are $12 for each night with Saturday’s finale $20 while children 11 and under are free each night.  Pit passes are $30 for each night.

Roach is first SportMod Mayhem repeat winner

(Aug. 18) – Mike Roach became the first repeat winner of Dodge City Race­way Park’s $1,000-to-win IMCA SportMod Mayhem event by racing to victory lane in Saturday night’s fifth annual event. Roach topped the 25-lapper from sixth starting after initially topping the event in 2015. He needed just four laps to race into second and then took the lead away from Jeff Kaup on the eighth circuit. Roach led the rest of the way to post his second consecutive victory at Dodge City with Brandon Kenney in tow after taking the second position from Kaup on the ninth lap. After topping last year’s SportMod Mayhem main, Dustin Daniels fell two positions short of going back-to-back by filling out the podium in third with Kaup and Blaine Walt rounding out the top five. Saturday practice precedes Dodge City season opener

By Lonnie Wheatley DODGE CITY, Kan. – Activity is picking up around the Dodge City Raceway Park 3/8-mile clay oval with opening night just 10 days away. But first, an open practice session is on tap for this Saturday, March 24 from 6-9 p.m. Grandstand admission is free with a $20 fee per person for admittance to the pit area. The practice session is open to all. Saturday’s practice session precedes the 2018 season opener by seven nights, with the Dodge City Raceway Park season officially getting under way on Saturday night, March 31. The March 31 season opener will feature a full card of championship racing action including IMCA Modifieds, IMCA SportMods, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks. The March 31 event fires off at 7:30 p.m. with tickets $15 for adults while children 11 and under are admitted free when accompanied by an adult. Pit passes are $30. In total, the 2018 season at Dodge City Raceway Park is slated for 17 nights of action following Saturday’s open practice session.

Burkhart rallies for Roundup win at Dodge City

(June 20) – The lights shone upon the 3/8-mile Dodge City Raceway Park clay oval on Saturday night for the first time in 2020 with Hays racer Tathan Burkhart cashing in by winning the 25-lap IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock Roundup. Rebounding from heat races issues, Burkhart rallied through the field from 15th and took com­mand at the midway point en route to topping the Roundup after scoring six IMCA Hobby Stock wins at Dodge City last year.  A multi-car battle for the point ensued in the early rounds before a multi-car tangle on lap eight eliminated much of the field.
