Dacotah Speedway hosts $10,003 to win Legendary special for IMCA Modifieds

MANDAN, N.D. – Dacotah Speedway is excited to announce the $10,003 to win IMCA Modified Legendary 50 presented by Corral Sales scheduled for Friday, July 13.

Many of the best drivers from across the United States and Canada will compete for the largest cash prize for an IMCA Modified race in North Dakota. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Side Biter Chassis and North Dakota State points, but no track points will be awarded. Entry fee is now $150.

The main event is a 2018 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier and will feature the 32 drivers who raced their way into the big show, plus one additional spot to be determined by presenting sponsor Corral Sales.

Some time between lap 25 and 35, a caution will wave for mandatory pit stops. This allows drivers and pit crews five minutes to make any changes they need with the exception of changing tires. The leader at that point earns $500, as does one fan, chosen by drawing, in a contest to guess the leader at that yet to be determined point.

New this year will be group qualifying to determine heat race lineups versus an old-fashioned pill number draw. Fans will want to come early to check out this rare sight. Drivers will then battle in their heat races and ‘B’ features to advance to the big show.

Tickets are $20 for adults with kids 12 and under admitted free. Advanced, discount tickets are available at select Cenex locations in Bismarck, Mandan and Lincoln. Pit passes are $25.

Pit gates at Mandan open at 3 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5 p.m. on race day. Hot laps are at approximately 6:30 p.m. with racing at 7 p.m.

The Legendary caps off six straight days of racing on the Kupper Chevrolet Dakota Classic Modified Tour. Drivers must have competed at a minimum of three of those events to vie at the Legendary.

The Legendary and all six series dates will be broadcast by IMCA.TV.

After the conclusion of the Legendary 50, the Dirt Dominator racing special will hit the track, pitting the top 16 drivers in the Dakota Classic Tour standings not already qualified against each other.

Drivers will be squared off in a racing bracket, much like March Madness, pitting two drivers at a time to race in a three lap shootout. The winner advances to the next round until only one car and driver remains. The Dirt Dominator winner will receive $1,000 and a chance to compete for $10,000 on October 24 in Waco, Texas.

Camping is available at Dacotah Speedway but space is limited. Call 701-391-6211 or 701-240-2976 to reserve your spot today.
