Abilene Speedway set for 23rd annual Southern Challenge 

ABILENE, Texas – The fourth annual Sniper Speed Lone Star Tour for IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars travels to six tracks in Texas and Oklahoma, with a $5,000 check waiting for the champion.  Both IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and IMCA Modifieds run for $1,000 to win at Abilene Speedway on Saturday, Feb. 20, the second show of the Ice Breaker weekend; Sunday, Feb. 21 at Heart O’ Texas Speedway in Waco; Monday, Feb. 22 at Cotton Bowl Speedway in Paige; Wednesday, Feb. 24 at Grayson County Speedway in Bells; Friday, Feb. 26 at Kennedale Speedway Park; and Saturday, Feb. 27 at Southern Oklahoma Speedway in Ardmore.  Stock Car feature winners are eligible for a $500 loyalty bonus from IMCA; all Modified features are qualifying events for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot.  Tuesday is an off day following cancellation of the event scheduled at Boyd and the Grayson County race moves to Wednesday. ABILENE, Texas (Feb. 18, 2022) – A driver with nearly 200 feature wins already to his career credit raced to an IMCA.TV Ice Breaker first checkers Friday at Abilene Speedway.  P.J. Egbert led the last 17 of 20 laps after taking advantage of an early restart to score the $750 IMCA Sunoco Stock Car victory, his weekly point season first in the class since 2018 and first-ever at Abilene’s long-running February special.  “I’ve been fast here before but never had luck on my side,” said Egbert, from Copperas Cove and newly eligible to qualify for the B & B Racing Chassis All-Star Invitational. “It’s definitely good to win here. ABILENE, Texas (Oct. 16) – Vince Ogle figured he’d finished every position but first in all the years he’s been running Abilene Speedway’s Ryan Bard Memorial Southern Challenge. He led all 30 laps of the IMCA Modified feature at the 27th annual event to get that first win and $2,500 Saturday night.  “I’ve been trying to win this race for 25 years and I’m pretty sure I’ve finished everywhere except first,” he said. “It’s a really awesome feeling to finally win it. I was beginning to think it wouldn’t happen.
