ATCHISON, Kan. (June 3) – Steven Bowers Jr. and Jim Powell Jr. were Friday night IMCA winners at Atchison County Raceway.

The Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified feature saw Nicholas Carpenter take the early lead and appear to be the car to beat. As the race progressed, however, Bowers worked through traffic and passed Carpenter on his way to victory lane.

Carpenter placed second with Rodney Schweizer parlaying a consistent run into a solid third place. Matt Richards was fourth and Tyson Lanfermann fifth.

IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars ran caution-free with great side-by-side action from green to checkers.

Marvin Griffith Jr. took the early lead, holding all challengers at bay in the early stages.  As the laps dwindled down Powell negotiated his way under, through and around the rest of the field to perfection, catching up with and finally passing Griffith.

Griffith ended the night as runner-up with Brad Whitney coming from the back to finish third.  Newcomer to Atchison County Raceway Mark Ronnebaum was fourth and Chuck Warman rounded out the top five.
