NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (May 28) – Cashing in on the opportunities on the oval were many competitors that took to the track at Lincoln County Raceway on Saturday evening. Outrunning the storm with the fastest to earn a trip to the winners circle were Colton Osborn, Dillon Schultz, Casey Werkmeister, Shawn Slezak and Erik Nelson.
Working his way through traffic and going to the top groove to snare the lead, Osborn drove to the point and earned the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified victory. Osborn worked the bottom groove for much of his run to second place before going up the ladder a rung on the 12th lap that took him into the lead.
Leading the way for the initial 11 laps of the feature event was Cole Hodges. Hodges continued to stay up on the wheel and snared a runner-up finish. In his first appearance at Lincoln County Raceway, Tanner Black was third.
In one of the most competitive and exciting races of the evening, it was Schultz who was able to avoid incidents and was in a position to win during the final laps to capture the checkers in the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod main.
Schultz led the final two laps after the red flag was thrown when leader Henry Henderson was collected in an accident while working through lapped traffic.
Continuing his streak of good fortune, Werkmeister snared the lead just short of the halfway point and never looked back to earn yet another feature victory in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car division.
Striking when the iron was hot was Slezak, as he led the final lap of the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock event.
Running from the beginning until the finish in dominant fashion, Nelson scored the victory in the Mach-1 Sport Compact feature.
