STUART, Iowa (May 22) – Ricky Thornton Jr. raced up another Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified feature win Sunday at Stuart Speedway.

Jake Murray held court early with Scott Simatovich and Scott Bash not far behind. After spinning in his heat and missing the invert, Thornton needed all of six laps to make it to fourth place. He was held up there until lap 12 when he got by Simatovich for third.

One lap later he took second from Bash and set his sights on Murray. A little less than half a straightaway separated the two, and in three laps that lead evaporated as Thornton powered his way to the front.

Thornton went on to take the win with Murray second and Bash third.

Josh Daniels regained the lead on the 15th circuit and took the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car win ahead of Derrick Rohe and Ben Walding.

Shannon Anderson made the most of a lap 12 restart to catch Buck Schafroth and win the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock main. Schafroth and Jamie Schirm completed the top three.

The leader from lap three on, Shawn Cooney stayed at the front of the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod field following three restarts and took the checkers ahead of Clint Luellen and Dusty Masolini.

John Gill was chased high and low by Jacob Reiter, but to no avail as Gill went on to the Mach-1 Sport Compact win. Reiter came home second with Cory Stapleton third.

Next Sunday, May 29 will be the 16th annual Ron Little Memorial. There will be increased purses in all IMCA classes and the Modifieds will race for $2,000 to win and $100 to start the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier. Karl Performance is adding in $100 gift cards for Modified, Stock Car, SportMod and Hobby winners and a $50 gift card for the Sport Compact winner.
